My friend's looking for a DLP projector for max 50k. Main usage is movies, PS3 and TV. He's already got a Dell 24" and wants the projector for when friends come over so can't go over 50k.

All suggestions welcome except no overshooting the budget, no LCD/ projection TVs .

The only PJs you'll get here under 50k are those made for ppt presentations.

lol, I tried to tell him that, but he's not willing to spend a penny more. He had a benq 622c (link to site) and was verry satisfied with it :D . He wants something which is better than that :)

Did you check out the Dell projectors? You can get something better than the Benq for 45k or so. Check out the NEC ones too if possible, though they may cost more than 50k.

Raghu.

There is nothing better than a BenQ 622c under 50k. The closest in terms of features is the Benq-MP620c which is around 50k.

No prices on the Dell site. Will have to find out tomorrow. Where in Mumbai can I get NEC projectors?

Update: found the prices on the site :) . What do you guys think of the Dell 2400MP Projector? priced at 75k but I'll try bargaining a bit :D . Okay, let's say my friend increases his budget to 70k. Will the Dell be the best in that range?

He had paid arnd 30k for the Benq 622C and later found out it's actually available for 24k odd. The MP620 is around 32-35k odd according to CNET. Isn't there anything better?

just curious , what's the difference between the 620 and 622 :ashamed:

the 620 is a older model still available in india. its around 5-6k cheaper.
spec wise the 622 is a little better.

Illimination is 2200 as compared to the 620's 2000
Constrast ratio is 2000:1 as compared to 700:1
the only other diff is that the 620 has a DVI port and the 622 doesnt..

The last i checked, the 622 is around 55k and 620 is 50k with local warrenty

the dell 2400MP rocks, but hte lamp life is around 33% less at only 2000 hrs as compared to Benq's 3000.

The Benq - MP721 is also similar to the dell at a similar price.

Naga, are you sure? I think it was 50ish . Anyways, do let us know how the Dell goes. I am in the same boat as your friend. Need a chepo projector that works well enough for movies. :ohyeah:

lol, u'll have to wait at least 3 weeks before Dell ships it out here. Ya, sure about the 30k+. In case u want the Dell for 65k, I can pm u my contact's e-mail and u can refer my name for the same deal. Offer open to other's too here as long as they're more than a year old member of TE.

P.S. That is, if u can't get the same deal by urself. If anyone can get it cheaper, do post here so I'll bargain harder next time I get anything :)
