best time to purchase a tv --- before new year or after ??

When will tvs be cheaper---right now .i.e. during this festive period or after that?? Also what are the chances of them introducing new models in january?
 
I wd say buy after this year as many new models are going to be launched next year,which in turn will reduce the price of the older models.

And which tv r u going to purchase crt plasma or lcd.

The price of lcd will definitely reduce nxt year.

sony and samsung will get new lcds like Z series,W4500 series and series 7,8 ,so the existing models may see a price cut,also they could be cheaper by 4% due to the cen vat cut.
 
I am consider buying a 40inch lcd..... zeroed in on sony w400a and sammy LA40650A.Really love the sony x series(x-450) but they are bloody expensive.

So will there be a price drop by jan end or middle of feb.For i can't wait for long.
 
Take a hard look at LG-42LG80FR for 66k- this really has awesome sound and is very well rated by lots of sites have heard and saw with a friend last week -simply awesome.

so is LG over the problem of contrast ratio and problems with dark scenes as well as low viewing angles(as reviews pointed out earlier for LG60 or the scarlett) with the 80 series?

which is better bet? samsung series 5 or this one?

edit : sound is not of much importance as movies would be through the av receiver.

edit 2 : read on tech2.com , samsung have dropped the prices of their lcds and plasmas, although will not make much difference. they are again offering the airtel dth with 5 months subscription.

well u can wait for the sony W4500 ,nothing but W400a with the addition of 100hz or the Z4500 series with 200hz,but since samsung have cut the prices sony will soon follow but when the new models come the oldes ones will have a price cut,so imo its worth waiting.
 
According to someone, the best time would be around March. Due to the economic conditions, TV wouldn't have sold as much as they would have wanted, and that would be the time they would want to make some last minute sales to meet quotas etc.

Just a thought.
