I used to put my dvds/cds in the stack (bundled that comes when I bought). Is this the best way to keep the disk ; for a 50disk bundle -the disks which are at bottom need to bear a significant pressure/weight.

Should I keep in -

  1. Jewel cases(multi-disk jewel case)
  2. CD/DVD case
  3. CD/DVD Stack

please suggest

I keep all my backup discs in CD/DVD Case have been using for 4+years no problem till now. And having around 150+discs... If there is a better way to store that someone can suggest i am open to it as well. But get the good quality case i.e: Not exterior. The interior where the disc stays should not be of hard material and should be soft so that while removing and keeping the disc doesn't get scratched.

jewel cases are the best way to store but expensive way. cd cases are convenient but lead to scratches in the long run no matter what you do

If I need to store a huge Amount of discs than Jewel cases are not the Preferred approach. As there comes a space constraint.

i use the normal cases in which the cd/dvd bundles come for 25/50/100 quantity..

in my opinion it is best way to avoid scratches and also consumes less space and very light on pocket.

For some, it is pain to browse and check what is in the disk for this approach...that is if you want to read what is written on the DVD cover...

My solution to this is to Browse the dvd in the computer itself after it is written,

take a screen shot of contents..

save it as a number...

write than number on the Disk cover instead of the contents in the drive..

now stack all disks in serial order..

Thus you do not need to find a place for the disk in that cd/dvd pouch when it is almost full,

you can just keep it on the stack.

For sorting them according to genre/type/or whatever...just make the sorting on your computer... Easy to manage and browse through without much hardwork.!!

PS: If you are concerned about the pressure on the lower disks.. just keep the stach horizontally once it is full..(so that disks don't move sideways (along the axis of the stack ..to avoid possible scratching)
