Hi Friends

I have to purchase a laptop for my younger brother, who needs it for casual normal use "no hardcore gaming etc." I selected the HP Laptop for him because of good configuration and low price or around 28000 in the local market.

  • 4th Gen Intel Ci3 Processor 1.70 GHz (4005U-Dual Core)
  • 4GB DDR3L-1600 RAM
  • 1TB HDD Serial ATA
  • Intel HD Graphics 4400
  • Free DOS 2.0
If we pay 1999 extra then HP is offering extra benefits of Rs 10000 -
Additional 2 years Onsite Warranty worth Rs.5999
12 movie tickets worth max Rs.3000 from BookMyShow
Gift Card worth Rs.2000 from MYNTRA.com
1 year McAfee Internet Security (MIS) subscription worth Rs.1399

But my brother is insisting for a similar configuration laptop from Dell or Acer instead, because he does not likes HP products.

Can anyone please suggest the best way to order the DELL Laptop ? Should we buy it from Dell website or from local dealers ? Is there any advantage in buying it online ? If you know some guy from Dell Online Store from whom you might have done the purchasing earlier, then please give his/her direct number, so that I can talk directly for any discounts etc.

I was told that there is some extra discount on Dell Store for the government employees. If I can use any coupons or any special debit/credit card etc. for any extra discounts, then please share such tricks.

If you think there is any better laptop available in the price range of Rs 25000 to 35000, then please suggest that as well. I will be buying this laptop before Diwali for sure.

Thanks for any help.

You can get the Dell 3446 i3 variant with 820M GPU (Optimus) for 28K without Windows or 32K with Windows 8.1 preinstalled from Amazon. However, there could be an issue with respect to warranty from Dell - but I cannot confirm it.

Thanks a lot Vivek for your reply.

I can CONFIRM that there could be very serious troubles related to Warranty, if someone buy from Amazon.in or other such sites. Infact Dell has placed the notice on its website itself to warn the people about this issue -

http://www.dell.com/in/p/laptops.aspx?c=in&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn Amazon.in is [B said:
Not a Dell Approved Reseller[/B]. Dell Offers, Schemes etc. are explicitly not applicable for products sold on www.amazon.in .
Representations, benefits and other entitlements offered exclusively by www.amazon.in, will not be honored by Dell under any circumstances and Dell shall not be liable in any manner with respect to requests being declined.
Exclusive offers, entitlements and other benefits for Dell products available on purchases made on Dell Authorized Reseller.

Look at the configurations and keep the extras and freebies secondary.
If dell is offering a good config. at that price but hp is offering slightly lower but with tones of freebies then would suggest go for dell and or vice-verse.
You can bargain with either of those brands that some other brand is offering extra stuff and warranties and see what they say I mean the retailer/shop from where you plan to buy.

However first confirm whose after sales service is better, hp or dell before proceeding.
As your bro already hates hp there must be some reason, may be his group mates might had a bad experience with their products or services.
