Best way to get a iphone .

I have a relative coming down here from USA in a month or two . I was thinking to get a iphone . What is the best way to get it, should i buy a unlocked one over ebay ( USA ) and tell him to bring it here or should i make him buy original one from apple store and try to unlock myself ? How easy is it to unlock original iphone ? Is the latest firmware shipped by apple unlockable ? Is opening up the iphone and playinh with electric components still required to unlock it ?
Buying a original one and unlocking myself seems cheaper since its bit costly on e-bay .

No, there is no need to open your iPhone to unlock it.

yup...just order it from an apple store (from the online apple store etc) n u can get lots of tutorials over the net on how to unlock it lots of software based ones around now

i ordered my iphone from the apple store n im getting it in a few days..... gonna unlock it myself(much cheaper than buying a unlocked one)....
