Mac OS Better video, audio player and browser for OSX

I am using VLC and Safari (latest) with the Mountain Lion. Wanted to know if there is something better available for MAC. Somehow I feel Chrome eats away too much battery life and Pinch to zoom is great in Safari. Having troubles with VLC though as videos seems to run a little dark on the Air or its just the TN panel.

Also suggest me something for the mail as the default Mail app is just not cutting it. Deleting Spam/Junk mail with the default mail app is PITA or is there a gesture somewhere which I am missing.

Added Later: Just downloaded and tried the MPlayerX(Guess this is the App you were referring to) and found nothing great about it. In fact with VLC two finger gesture works for volume as well as scrolling while in MPlayerX it just works for volume. Will use it though for couple of days to see if it has something else.

Using Hackintosh in my Dell XPS L501x from years. Switched successfully from Snow Leopard > Lion and now Mountain Lion. Runs smooth as silk.

So shoot any questions if you want to know any app to do xyz stuff in Mac.
