As the topic says,it has been reported on Channeltimes that Fake Transcend 'JETRAM' has landed in Chennai,Mumbai and other markets of india.
SO all TE members buying new memory or upgrading, just be cautious while purchasing Original Transcend RAM.

As far as our knowledge goes, we recommend to purchase only those Transcend RAMs that are available in Tetra Pack and from reputed dealers.Do not get lured by cheap rates. As far as possible avoid Transcend RAM in loose plastic bag.
We will keep you updated with whatever information we get from our sources.

Thank you,

Team Techenclave.

@darky : is there any other way to distinguish fake from original, 'cause these dealers are soon gonna put it in the same packaging as the original ram packs..

As of now there is no solid information regarding that but Tetra Pack is what we know to look for when buying it and the hologram.

While building a config for my friend, when i was in Chennai i bought Transcend 512MB DDR from Delta Peripherals... in the first week of JUNE.

The guy told that tetra packs are only for RAMs above 1GB and gave us a RAM in loose plastic bag :@

I denied him so much but atlast got settled with the same loose plastic bag stuff

On the Bill, he wrote Transcend 512MB DDR along with the number ... is it gonna make any difference... ??? :S

And that too, for writing the word TRANSCEND on the bill he was talking a lot....:@
but atlast he did and signed the same ...

Is there any way to find whether its real or fake before it fries itself ...

@Senfunn - Me bought the same too. The Tetra for 512 was not available in the first week of June and so I bought the Transcend 512*2 JetRam in loose packing. Have not encountered any problem so far. Another thing is that since you've purchased from Delta, there is no need to worry as in case of any problems, they ensure that you get a proper replacement. Ask Saiyan, fellow TE member who had a problem with his TwinMOS and got it replaced easily.

Darky, repped ya for this info.

soon it will be for DDR2 as well ...thanks to our chindi dealers.

beware guys.

@darky

u get a rep for cautioning people.

I recently bought two 1GB CL3 transcend ram modules from Delta. Before buying, I asked him if I would get a box pack and he said yes, and I was happy. But then he said the ram package will be open ( a slit large enough to slide out the module). Seeing as it was the biggest store in chennai that I know of, I bought it.
Later when i got home and installed the ram modules, I found that one of the 1GBs was a 512MB CL2.5! I went back to the store and he said that such things happen because the ram itself comes 'naked' from usa and the packaging is done in India (the sliding-in-through-a-slit part). And he said this transcend ram business was a loss because modules gets misplaced in wrong packages often and someone who got my 1GB in his 512MB pack would never "report" it (I wouldn't!). But he replaced the ram gladly and quickly.

Anyways, is there a definitive way to know if it's a Transcend? I OCed mine and it's Prime stable at 440MHz. I haven't prime checked memory timings yet, so it's 440@3-3-3-8-1T
