Graphic Cards BFG 6800U Clock Speed doubt.

Hi
I just got myself a BFG 6800u (Thanks Rave :hap5: ). Now all the cards that Ive had before, have different clock speeds for 2d and 3d. After adding coolbits to the registry, I found out that the clock speed for both, 2d and 3d is 425/1100. Is this normal for all bfg 6800u's ?? Neway, ive underclocked the 2d to 250/1100 for now, and left the 3d clock speed as it is. Can some1 throw more light on this. Is this how its supposed to be for all 6800 ultras ? I mean i dont need 16pipes running at full throttle for solitaire or excel

My older card (Leadtek 5700U) did 250/700 and 450/950 in 2d and 3d, tho im not sure if thts what it was exactly. I could be a lil off on the 2d figure, but damn sure 3d was 450/950. And it was a major diff between 2/3d.

i think DJ once told me that changing the clock freq by too high a margin very frequently damages the dye, someone pls shed some light on this...

^^Yup, major underclocking of the GPU if not done by the manufacturer will do more harm than good. If its not done by the manufacturer, its probably for a reason.

Some cards dont need and like to be underclocked.. I say leave it at 425/1100 ;) :bleh:

I know..... even then!!! It still rocks. The stock core is 400..... and 25 Mhz more on that is really cool. And you can oc it more beyond 425....

At that time, there was no better deal.... Today, it looks slightly jaded...

yeah.... you better :P You do have an amazing piece :P 425 on the core if I remember correctly..... right?? with NV Silencer 5 and no artefacts..... Lucky dog :P

@Nkhil : 95% of all 6800 ultras shipped had a 425MHz core speed. So bfg is nothing special. I think everyone other than asus/gigabyte/msi shipped with core clock at 425. Gainward even had an aircooled 450MHz card.

Yeah it is :D
Neway Im back to 425/1100 for both 2d and 3d. Now waiting for my antec psu from apo, then hopefully Ill take it 440/1150 with a bit of luck. :cool2:
