Overall, we are really impressed with the Big Typhoon VX and Thermaltake should be proud of their creation. Although we didn’t quite like the built-in fan controller, we are very happy to work with the Big Typhoon VX because it installs like a stock cooler. Motherboard removal is not necessarily required and it takes only less than 10 minutes to get things done. Build quality was good but we would love to see a shinier copper base. Performance wise, the Big Typhoon VX is currently the best among the rest and we believe it is the most powerful CPU cooler we have reviewed up to date. Users seeking to build a silent PC will also love this cooler because it was able to perform very well, even at low fan speeds. Priced at USD$53 / RM195, the Big Typhoon VX is a very good bargain considering you get a decent 120mm fan and a nice packaging too. At this moment, we would definitely recommend this cooler to anyone who’s looking for a powerful CPU cooler, especially if you plan to push your newly purchased Conroe to 4GHz!
Pros:

Cons:

* Built-in fan controller is really not a good idea

The reviewers themselves might not have been able to get their hands on one. Good product - Nothing to show in retail shelves. Read somewhere that the machines responsible for manufacture of the Tuniq in China have broken down :S Production will start again only by the 2nd week of August.

But have to agree that they've taken a good product and made it better - Better airflow and easier installation.

Though i am a little sceptical about that 2000rpm fan!!

TtBT was amongst the best but very silent!!hyeah:

But the thunderblade 120 with 78 cfm at 2000 rpm is a bit too whiny for my taste!!
But that maybe due to severely restricted air flow in the SLB front grill and the resulting bufetting!!:ashamed:

But the TtBT fan and the Tt Silent Wheel have much better blade design than even Tt smartblue 120 or some other good fans- scooping much more air per spin as a result and hence providing great cfm at lower speeds(and noise) than usual 120mm fans with similar cfm!!:cool2:
No wonder 2000 rpm but 87 cfm unlike 78 odd cfm from most other 120 mm fans at 2000 rpm!!

So i am praying that the VX fan will not be as noisy as the thunderblade due to that!!

But i am a bit confused here- wasn't it reported (on other forums esp) that TtBT DOES NOT benefit much from high cfm fans!!:S

personally, that black grill sucks!!
The original Chrome one looks way better IMHO- but all in the name of change and differentiation i guess!!:down:

Check the results with a Silverstone FM121 fan

Thats like the original TtBT fan but 2 more blades and 3.26 mmH2O air pressure :O against 1.87 of the original BT fan!!
So now i don't wonder anymore about why some fans have so many blades and why some lower cfm fans outperform relatively high cfm ones when installed on a heatsink!!
Coz i feel maybe its the right combination of speed and pressure thats required depending upon fins on the h/s!!:cool2:
White, dual ball bearing and super kick ass 110 cfm too!!
Plus a cool looking fan controller too!!hyeah:

It isnt exactly silent.... but no pain(read noise), no gain!!

So the VX fan with 2.22 mm pressure is kinda between the 2 and so is the 87 cfm!!
so expecting it to perform better than the original BT!!

But the thunderblade 120 in the slb front grill, on my desk very close to me with supposedly silent 21dbA is not that silent or maybe my ears are too sensitive!!
so the Tt rating of 24dbA of the VX- er...
But maybe not so much inside a case with the sidepanel closed!!:rofl:
