Hi Experts :)

I want to buy my first bike and need your serious expert advice. So here it goes details ...

Height : 5'8"

Weight : 60 kg :ashamed: ... hopefully will increase upto 65 kg :S

Body build : Slim

Location : Mumbai and Thane

Bike riding experience : only around 2 week on HH Splendor (8 years ago) .. I was strictly forbidden from bike riding after an accident .. only used Activa after that :( .. u can safely assume that I don't know bike riding :ashamed:

Total daily traveling distance in city traffic : min 5 km -- max 30 km

Max speed : 100 kmph strictly

Budget : min 60k -- max 110k :D (for max limit loan is needed .. but not for min limit)

Things wanted in bike : Riding comfort, low maintenance, good service after sale, mileage above 20 kmpl :)

Bikes which I like : Karizma ZMR (1), ZMA (2), P220 (3)

Now whichever bike I choose should last at least 5 years without issue (of course I'll take good care of bike).

So please advice the bike which I should go for. :D

And how much difficult it is to transfer ownership legally if I buy the bike from Vashi via friend to save money? :P

Thanks for reading long post :ohyeah:

Regards,

kekerode

Go for the Yamha FZ-S. Its a good 150CC bike and great to ride in traffic. The new Black and Green color cool :drool2:

How are u planning to drive a karizma if ur 60 kilos? :/ lol

Dude ... I have already rode Karizma R 2-3 time which belonged to a friend :P ... so there is no problem

That's where your requirements and preferences come in. :)

That's a wrong segment to be looking at, if you are a beginner. :P
What's the problem with keeping hopes high :P

It's just that I was not allowed to ride bike due to accident (due to careless high speed drive) :( ... that's why stuck with Activa ... for last 3 years I haven't used any two wheeler except bicycle :P

Until now I had not much use for bike ... everything was nearby ... but that's not case now so looking for bike.

Btw ... I have chosen 3 bikes for 150cc segment

1. HH CBZ Xtreme
2. CB Unicorn
3. CB Unicorn Dazzler

Read the reviewes ... also once rode CBZ Xtreme of a friend once (other two still to ride)

I personally like looks of CBZ Xtreme > CB Unicorn Dazzler > CB Unicorn

I wanna know about Riding comfort and maintenance ... which is better ?

It's not about riding the bike, its all about handling it.

With the weight u have on you, God forbids any situation arises for you to handle the bike in an abrupt situation.. people wont say a fellow was riding a bike, they ll say the bike was taking the fellow somewhere.

So choose a bike which you can easily handle.

:@ :@ :@

Out of the 3 150cc u have short listed go for the dazzler . From early reviews it seems a evolutionary modern Unicorn :) Looks good and has most of the inherent good traits the older unicorn.

ZMR is overpriced, zma-r is a good bike and P220 is the bang for the buck

I'll recommend ZMA-R, very good chassis to build up confidence, esp for the first bike.(nowadays spares are affordable too.) 40 KMPL

P220-F fully loaded VFM bike with 40-42KMPL

Dazzler good looks and good average. 55+KMPL

For a beginner, u should opt for a 125 or 150cc bike. The more the CCs, the more the BHPs & the more the BHPs, the more the experience, road sense & skill needed to keep the wheels planted on the road.......!!!

Even if u extend ur budget by a few lakhs, U simply cannot go & buy a Yamaha R1. Lolzzz :D

Remember, bigger the monster, tougher it is to tame.

Gyaan apart, I would suggest the following:

Honda CB Twister

Yamaha FZ 16/S

Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i

Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

in that order.

I really think that a beginner should stay away from the ZMR/ZMA, the P220, the R15 or any other bike > 150CC for that matter.

Your call.

P.S.:
I am really never worried about people injuring/dying in accidents they cause by themselves or by their own negligence. It's the innocents who might get hurt due to ur doings & that worries me.

@nehaladsul : I have to rep u :D ... u understood my first post (of course everybody else can read it again to see that it's not changed since first post :P)

Purpose of this thread is to find suggestion for my first bike to build up experience ... not judging other factors ... I included detail so one can suggest good bike (mostly according to height)

I have said earlier too and would like to say again ... That's only "Bikes which I like" list not "Bikes I have listed down or will buy as first bike" :P

Now from your list ... I really don't prefer FZ 16/S naked look ... so removing it

Now can u please tell me why these two are above Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler ? Why didn't u include HH CBZ Xtreme ?

Honda CB Twister

Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i

Problem is most of my friends either own Yamaha or Karizma R or P200 :( ... since most of them haven't used CB Twister I have no personal feedback on it ... I prefer Honda or HH brand over Bajaj anytime.

Ok. In this case, what is the point of liking a motorcycle, when you are not planning to buy it? :S

You started this thread to seek guidance in actually 'purchasing' a motorcycle meeting your requirements, right?

Anyway...

I would personally suggest the Unicorn for a comfortable ride and decent mileage.

Fine..... Here u go.....

Honda CB Twister:
I have ridden the bike. It has a clean power delivery. I primarily suggested it coz it has a 110cc engine producing 9bhp. This, I think is sufficient 'power to play with' for a beginner.

Also, this bike doesn't look like any 100cc bike. It has the feel of the premium 150cc bikes. So, u aren't left feeling that u have a 'small bike'.....!!!

Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i:
I currently own the UG-3 model of this bike. I can safely recommend this bike to anyone. I have used it for long & know that it is a strong performer in the power delivery, braking & stability segment.

Those are the things needed most by a beginner. Also, the 2010 model is even better in the looks & styling dept. The engines are not as refined as the Hondas but it is superb nonetheless. Also, quality of materials was not really good on the earlier models but I think Bajaj has sorted that out in the 2010 range.

Honda Unicorn Dazzler: This is the one I have never ridden. So, I recommended it last as I don't have 1st hand experience on this bike. But from what I have heard, it is a good bike in the 150cc segment & probably it is even better than the P150 (above). But, don't take my word for it as I hav NOT personally tested it.

And now for the HH CBZ Extreme: I have a 2004 model HH CBZ (originally my bother's but now mine) that is in excellent condition. Believe me, HH stopped making good bikes after the original CBZ. The Xtreme doesn't come close to the CBZ in any aspect. Neither looks nor the refinement. All I can say is that the Extreme was an extreme-ly desperate measure by HH to pull a bite at Bajaj who was making waves with the Pulsars...... And HH failed miserably.

But yes, if u are keen on going in for a HH, I would recommend u try the Hero Honda Hunk. Though it doesn't look that great from the rear quarters, it is the only HH that has the potential to beat the original CBZ in the Handling & performance dept.

On a second note, u may even want to consider the Honda Stunner. It is a capable 125cc bike (like all Hondas are) but the styling of the bike may not appeal to all.

P.S.: I really don't know why don't u like the naked looks. In fact, all the bikes I hav suggested are naked ones & most bikes sold in India are naked ones...... I m confused!!!

Again, your call.....

Come on bro..... Dont be mad at him..... Lolzzz :D

Even I LIKE (or rather LOVE) the Yamaha R1 (In fact it is my all time favorite!) but that doesn't mean I plan to buy it.......!!!

He is just a bit confused & needs sum advice. Even I was the same when I was a newbie to biking...... I 'liked' almost all bikes but didn't know which one was best for me!!!

Lolzzz :D

not a bajaj hh war!!!but if maintenance free is wat u want go 4 hh or honda,,,4 bajaj the initial cost may be low but it cost 2 much 4 maintenance(sincere opinion),,hunk is also a gud bike,, pulsars gud for innovative stuff, but no gaurantees that they run 4 lifetime,my friend who has 180 ug3 has chaged almost every part of his bike,, console changed twice,, cdi twice,,clutch plates once(i havent changed my splendour's plates(1999 model))..as nehaladsul said twister is also gud!..take test ride b4 booking ne bike..height also plays imp role in comfort

^^^ Yeah, I do agree that HH & Hondas are low maintenance.

U know what, even my dad's Splendour is a 1999 model & it is just going strong except for the cosmetics. He rarely uses it now but it has a emotional bonding that won't let us sell it!!

But, my P150 UG3 (2007) has clocked about 17k till date & I have only changed the brake pads (F+R) once in the last month due to approaching monsoons. Also, I had a kaput parking light bulb sumtime last year & I got the pair replaced. That apart, I haven't replaced anything in my bike. Not even a puncture in 3 years. The silver paint on the engine has chipped a bit but that is normal for any 3 year old bike. It has been routinely serviced at the Bajaj ASC in Bandra.

I don't know if u would agree but a lot depends on how u treat ur vehicle. I have always loved & cared well for all my vehicles & they have never troubled me ever. That's my take. ;)
