Hey guys,

I am currently zooming around in my 3 year (almost, coupla months left) Pulsar 150 "normal" (DTS-i came out a couple of months later.)

I am looking to upgrade my ride.... And I dont have much idea in the current products in the market.... I am looking for some good wholesome advice in this regard.

Budget: 70K (on road i.e.)

I am very very much inclined towards the Pulsar 180 "Black"

Usage: Mostly incity movements, going to forum, NOT much rush hour usage (I go to office in Company transport)

Requirements:

  • Power....
  • And looks to Kill.
  • Decent mileage....around 40kmpl+ (not best case figure, actual on road) should be thinkable.

I plan to use it for atleast 2 years (w/o overclocking :P) so please suggest accordingly.

Regards,

Karan

Why don't you buy the TVS Apache after all it got the best bike of the year award and it is within your budget, is 150cc & has looks that could kill.

another choice is the Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTS-i (Black)

Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTS-i has more power but lesser mileage.

i got the honda unicorn and its more like a family bike with decent looks and comfort...may not be what u r looking for..

I guess Karizma is more ur type

A few comments:

Karizma or any Enfield Bike won't be within your budget. If u want a cruiser, go for Bajaj Avenger, it'll be around 65k on-road.

TVS Apache is really small (low hieght), so it looks wierd on tall people...

The Black pulsar is a good option... a variant of that is the pulsar with red body (see pic), which looks better IMO [:)]
You should buy the latest edition of Bike magazine to help u make a good choice...

you want to wait, then the Pulsar 250 DTS-FI.

And the P180 wont give you more than 37 or so unless you ride it like a cycle..... in which case, it is useless going for a P180.

If you buy a P180, you should learn to rip.... Otherwise, I will personally wring your neck. :P

Should I laugh or cry?

why is Indian public so gullible and cant think on their own?

Dude, if you are really looking for power, then kiss mileage goodbye.
If you run a Pulsar 180 or Karizma, the way it should, in order to extract all teh bhp, you would be getting 25-35 as the mileage.

Nothing more.
Besides, you are not using it for daily commuting, then how does it matter what is the mileage?

PS: Sorry for being harsh, but then I couldn't help it.

see "mileage" is not MUCH of a concern cuz this wont be my daily commute bike.... will stick to company transport for that (who wants to do WEAR and TEAR to body and mind in hosur road)....i want it to be the fun part after returning from office.... like going on rides, etc, etc.

also is it true that the new black DTS-i is subdued compared to the original 180 dtsi in terms of top speed? how big a factor is it?

It is subdued only in terms of Top speed. But you get more initial acceleration compared to the old DTSI.

And the 250 cc is supposed to release in the next few weeks...but dont take my word on that...it could take more time too...

Best thing to do is to contact the nearest Bajaj showroom....or just call any Bajaj showroom

any idea about the cost of that thing? and isnt it a 220 cc model (or is it 250 cc)....

the dts-fi will launch in two months...definitely my bike :D
the black 180 is a beautiful beast..my old bike :bleh:

buy cbz if u want road manners..pulsar for power...karizma for more power :P

it IS 220cc but it has fuel injection so its way better than any of its competitors...BUT the big problem will be its price at time of launch..the bike is expected to be priced between 70k to 1 lakh :S

@Smith --- The Karizma is good only if you want exclusivity on the road. Otherwise, the Pulsar is better. It has better acceleration, handling, mileage.

The Karizma has a higher top speed compared to the new 180DTSi.

Nikhil yaar..the bike is out..the journos have tested it on the 8th of july..its also been featured onvarious news channels..its just that the bike hasnt been launched inthe market.

its 220CC, 20ps, topwhack of 135kph+, front AND rear disk brakes, Tubeless Tyres, Digi speedo and Baja gurantees that if u ride the bike @ 50kph in top gear, a mileage of 50kpl is guaranteed.

and the bike is estimated to be around 92k on road an BAJAJ confirmed that they will make sure that the number of digits ont he price doesnt increase anywhere.

p.s: the karizma handles way better than the pulsar imho :)..atleast i have had many kilometers on both bikes and i feel that way. Plus the pulsar invites way too many gear shifts to my liking..while the zma can be puttered along comfortably at lower speeds also. actually IMHO, theres absolutely nothing wrong with the zma.

yup reviews of the 220cc is out... someone personally tested and posted the review of it ... awesome bike .... the features are as posted by smith... :)

pulsar is a good bike.. best part being the avaialability of parts which are cheap too... for the zma its costly.... so you gotta think abt that too.

btw... no matter what colour bike you buy.... buy a white helmet..(not necessarily completely white.. but some part gotta be white.. better visibility)
