i would suggest you to go for bullet electra 350 .... but the rider should have a gud knowledge bout this bike or it can be quite a hassle to maintain

:)

pulsar 220 or bullet wud be come under my budget??

wud these be cofertable to ride.. since nowdays. I m riding splendour .. i end up sleeping whole weeknd..:( by back ache..

Honda Unicorn it has one of the best engines in the market .... i have seen it last like 75,000kms with no glitch in engine, beside the ride is not too discomforting and avg not too shabby ... but you have to take care of the bike ... atleast oil change every 2000 kms ...

hello all,

budget: 70k

daily drive :upto 100km.

please suggest me good bike..

Thanks

New Pulsar 180 DTS-i (2009 edition)

Cost: Rs. 63000 (ex-showroom, Chandigarh)

Mileage: 50+ on highway

Pros: Very stable even at 100kph, Bigger wheels, Bigger Disc Brake, Great Mileage, Great performance (increased Bhp as compares to previous 180), Tubeless tyres

Cons: Footrest pegs slightly recessed back, Too many pulsars?

Honda Stunner (125cc only)

Cost: Around 50k i guess

Mileage: Around 65 on highway

Pros: Mileage, low initial Cost, honda build quality, Good styling

Cons: Service, Spares not as good as bajaj, Good for 60kph (not so smooth @ 80kph as the Pulsar 180), Autorickshaw-type steering not suitable for indian city roads :p

Honda Unicorn (150cc)

Boring commuter :P but maybe its a nice bike :)

Bajaj Avenger 180 DTS-i

Pros: Pulsar 200 Oil-cooled engine, Uber-comfortable, Best in class

Cons: Cruisers are not so great for city driving

EDIT: Pulsar 220 not recommended..Not so comfy.. Very Very wierd acceleration deceleration... Pulsar 200 is great option but maybe exceeds your budget.. oil cooling is awesome for long drives.

EDIT2: Verdict:

Highway Commuting: my vote goes to Bajaj Avenger as it now comes with a 200cc oil-cooled engine.. great bajaj service,, best in class efficiency, and sofa seats..

City Commuting: Pulsar 180 DTSi 2009 edition

I would personally go for bullet as the sitting position is up-right n steering handle is wide which relaxes your shoulders n arms and i think i dont have to say anything abt its engine .... its the best bike for long distance commuting ...... go bullet :D

I would suggest Avenger over a Bullet... i own a Bullet and a pulsar and have driven an avenger.. bullet is a bike of the past and needs high maintenance.. Moreover brakes are not as sharp as avenger + avenger is more comfortable (come on, you cannot beat its Sofa Seats :) )

Sato u r "the" first person in my life to recommend something over bullet even after owning on of these beauties ..... :O

sato, the avenger comes with the 200cc oil cooled engine. Not a great bike to use in city traffic, given a straight road it shines (don't fall asleep though). Owning a 180cc myself, i prefer to ride any 150cc+ bikes given the horrible traffic.

Wow, 100kms per day! You should look at a 2nd-hand Indica Diesel - no am serious here! Think about it, high mileage Indica diesel will be quite okay if you don't treat it too badly.

You will sleep well at night, your back won't ache, you'll spend weekends having whatever fun you can have fun on your Splendor. And you can car-pool as well to off-set the mileage costs.

(I always believe in thinking a bit different! :P)

Worth a thought if you ask me. Otherwise, my choice would go for a refined cruiser like the Avenger or a pre-owned Aquila if you can find one. The Bullet is wonderful but a daily use for that much distance, am just not sure.

Cheers!
Payne

I'd stick with Payne's suggestion. How's it humanly possible to commute 100kms a day on a bike *gulp*.

And why not a Bullet if that's the case? It's a good bike for long rides IINM. OP surely cannot afford the Thunderbird so it's out of question.

Besides Bullet, Avengers,etc. those Cruisers.

If you want a Bike which won't give you back pain, have good mileage, then it's Unicorn.
Unicorn has very refined engine, good mileage(Best in 150cc segment), comfort riding position(unlike other 150cc& 150cc bikes, which have sporty riding position), costs ~63k on road.

If you looking for comfort for long rides and budget i will wuggest Avenger 200. I myself own one and have no problems with the bike ( about 6 month and 14k KM done ). It will be around 75k on road . After bullet i will prefer this anyday for comfortable riding :) .
