one of my friend is going to buy Biostar TA790GX A3+ (am3) board tomorrow. He has a 0922apmw series pII550 proc. Will the board successfuly unlock the procy? or anything to do to unlock. I have suggested him TA790GX 128 but he is going for DDR3 platform. Kindly give your responce.

According to XS, the board u are suggesting, i.e. TA790GX 128m is gonna work(unlock the cores)
The one he's wanting to buy i.e. TA790GX A3+ wont work with the processor that he currently has!
It'll only work with the Stepping - 0920GPMW proccy!

Wat do you mean by TA790GX A3+ wont work with the processor that he currently has?? Clarify the same.
Are you talking about unlocking or you are straightaway saying the mobo wont support the proccy itself. A3+ ddr3 mobo does support his processor.
As far as proccy has same architecture irrespective of any batch nos. they will support the corresponding boards.
Yes but only certain batches will get unlocked but your need to experiment with your mobo bt still at stock cores any mobo is fine!!!
It may happen that this mobo wont unlock the hidden cores but it will certainly support the poccy at its full potential.
But if he manages to get some older bios for his A3+ he will be happy go lucky with the combo then coz it unlockes the cores.

Do not flash from windows.. Refer Board Manual to understand how to flash using T-bios Flasher Utility (Very easy process)
The R1 version of bios are supposed to work fine but the normal one worked fine for me on TA790GXBE (Cost me 9.9k along with 550BE)
Only one issue...
To unlock -
1) Set HT link speed = 1.6GHz
2) Set ACC = Auto
Now your board will boot with all cores...
3) Install AMD OverDrive within windows
4) Set HT Multiplier = 10x (for HT = 2GHz)
5) Apply...
6) Done...
Alternatively... You can try setting HT = 2GHz within bios... board may not boot with display... In that case you will have to clear CMOS
PS: Flash only with the board model you have...
