bitGAMER has met amazing success recently, as evidenced by the ever-growing community. Our community has grown from around 25k members a year ago to a thriving community of nearly 40,000 members today. It has been amazing to sit back and witness the evolution of bitGAMER from a small group of hobbyists and into a large influence in the BitTorrent gaming space over the last couple years.
As we look forward to a 2010 full of exciting development, not the least of which being our highly anticipated
transition to the Gazelle code-base, we feel as though it's time to make a tough decision between continuing to grow and expand the bitGAMER membership numbers, or scaling back growth and focusing on the thriving community we already have here. Therefore, after much consideration, we have decided to take this opportunity to temporarily close off invites. We feel as though this decision will better allow us to focus on the community as we prepare the transition to Gazelle over the next few months.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to clear something up. Underground Gamer recently shut down invites because someone emailed their hosting company and said that UG was a "warez site." The closure of invites at UG is very temporary, and will only last until the host give the all-clear and says that UG is good to stay. The change at bitGAMER has been in the planning stages for well over a month and is completely unrelated to the decision that was made at Underground Gamer.
