Windows BLACK BARS ON EDGE OF SCREEN

I have an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 8 which had 1366 X 768 as it's default resolution. Yesterday when I opened it, it had black bars on the edge of the screen (about 1.5 cm from right and 0.3 cm from top). I reinstalled the drivers and made them up to date. I checked the screen resolution section and it showed 1280 X 768 as the maximum resolution. I changed the aspect ratio and I even did a system restore but it did not work out. I then checked the registry editor and Graphic Properties (INTEL) but that didn't help either. Even the device manager and 'Check for Hardware Changes' option did not work.

Any help on how to solve it would be really appreciated.
