The Canadian company, RIM has now announced the launching date of it's new platform, Blackberry 10. It will launch in about two and a half month's time on January 30, 2013. The Alpha version was shown off earlier this year in May, whereas the Dev Alpha B version was shown in September which had many major improvements over the last version shown in May.

Now, Blackberry 10 offers quite a few upgrades over it's old platform. Some of those features are touchscreen optimisations, the new user interface called the BlackBerry Flow (whihc allows one to swipe to switch between applications and menu which is similar to iOS), and reducing the gap between Casual and Professional users of the phone.

Now, it'll be very interesting to see how this new OS performs against the likes of iOS 6, Windows 8 and Android 4.2. I personally think only the fans of Blackberry would want to continue with a new blackberry device, whereas those whoa re already on 'modernised' mobile operating systems such as iOS, Android or Windows will really have no real need to purchase a BlackBerry 10 device. We'll soon know how it fares in under 80 days time.
