Hey Guys ...

I had purchased abt 100 of TY discs (DVD+R, 8x) from KMD last year, few were meant for my frnds and Lion's Share was for me ofcourse.

I burnt quite a few using my Sony Writer before it went kaput.

I tried to write one of the TY disc using a frnd's laptop (Of Dell Make, Vostro Series).. strangely enuf the task didn went through.

The lappy runs Windows Vista and i installed Ashampoo for the burning task, but wen the disc went under the lens for the write operation, within say abt 5 mins the operation was aborted and i was left with a nice silve coaster with myself. This has happened 2wice already.

I was banking on the fact that i mite use the lappy's writer but that wasnt to be.

The TY discs already burnt are working flawlessly , its the blank ones which have the issue.

My Requirements:

1) Suggest me a Soln to overcome this problem.. of Lappy's inability to write data onto the TY discs.

2) Suggest me a DVD writer which has been working with the blank TY discs (other than Sony) as i still got abt 60 blank TY with me.

1. It could be a compatibility issue with the laptop DVD writer..any idea what make it is..

2. Check on another DVD writer...TYs are top grade, shouldnt be an issue with media
Buy SH223F from Samsung, one of the best around

i too know that the issue isnt with the TY discs.. some compatibility issue is there with the writer or with Vista.

And THAT is what i am asking here abt ..

As i Mentioned before.. i HAVE burned few TY already with a Sony Writer. I never hinted that there mite be an issue with the media.

Have you or any of ur frnd tested that writer or had any prev reporting of working fine with the TY discs ??

I have this writer and couple of my friends have it too
I have burned Verbatims, Sony, many local medias - no issues at all
haven't tried TY tho, as I dont have it
I see no problems with this writer burning TY discs

Check with TE guys from Noida, maybe u can send it to them for checking it
Or u can courier it to me, if needed

Well, lot od DVD writers don't support TY discs by default. U'll have to do a firmware upgrade before u can use them.
I think its even written on the TY box or website as well...

Local and Sony ones are normal ones and detected by all drives how meagre they may be...:P

So, find out the make & type of burner on ur lappy, search the firmware upgrade in google and then ur burner can burn TY...:hap2:

TY discs are Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's, they are the best DVD media. A lil expensive at 11XX for 50 discs. KMD stocks them..

i got 50 pack of these from mediahome recently

had a bad exprience with moserbaer earlier. (actually not so bad .ok ok)

^ Verbatims are in same class as TY
one can say, TY and Verbs are the best medias in the world

Verbs(MII) are also tested to we of very high quality, though made by Moserbaer, but with Verbs machinery

They are available easily in India, @ great prices

No hard feelings towards anybody but..

@preetmohit

Atleast open a new thread for ur query , the title and the nature of the thread is way too diff as compared to ur query to be using it to get ur question answered.

cud have searched the forum a lil bit b4 posting? there are other threads already existing here in the forum to tell u abt TY

@Aces170 & @pcgamer
