At least 15 people were injured as two near simultaneous blasts hit Jama Masjid in Old Delhi.
The first explosion took place around 5:15 pm (IST) when devotees were preparing for the evening prayer near a pond used by them for ablution.
Fifteen minutes later another blast rocked the place, eyewitnesses said.
Top police officials immediately rushed to the spot and the entire area was cordoned off. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals.
There was a near stampede situation after the twin blasts as people scrambled for safety. Eyewitnesses said the explosives were suspected to have been kept in plastic bags.
