block /cripple torrents /downloads at my home network??

i have a internet connection with wifi at home with a buffalo router. my bro is just crippling my internet experience by downloading stuff 24 x 7 on his pc and mobile. how to either block / cripple speeds severly for torrents. also block all these rapidshare etc. file hosts. However it should be easy to remove as although rare i also use torrents sometimes. i think it can be done at router level ? i have dd wrt firmware on my router.
 
First of all, Try asking him.

Couple of things you can do
1. limit download speed on client or use scheduler to auto reduce speeds at particular time of day.
2. block torrent sites via hosts file
3. use firewall settings to block traffic
4.use ddwrt firewall rules

he doesnt listen . we have 3 pcs . my bro used his lappy and his phone .i only have admin acces to router and his laptop. i saw utorrent logo on his new phone so i know thats the reason fr net working slow even after he is well asleep. how to limit speeds etc ?? only on his laptop . hosts wont work as too many proxy sites now on net. i need way to block the torrent traffic ,not the sites as unblocking sites is childs play.
 
Blocking torrent traffic is not a solution here and will be apparent to ur brother that torrents aren't working.

Reducing speed is a middle ground for u and ur brother.

Use the torrent client scheduler to reduce speeds or limit them permanently via the client.
 
let it be apparant. i have told him im gonna block ur downloads soon. the thing is he uses phone to download torrents etc. i guess n i dnt have control over it. so blocking sites and traffic only way.
 
the keyword option works in ddwrt. if you are decent at scripting, you can have timed schedule for blocking and opening up torrent and other downloads as well.
 
ok got it how to do it.will mac filter his phone to 60kbps max. now just need to know his phones mac address . how to find his mac id guys , the router interface only shows the last digits of his mac address. is it printed on phne box ?[DOUBLEPOST=1376830018][/DOUBLEPOST]edit : got it !!![DOUBLEPOST=1376830086][/DOUBLEPOST]restricted his phone traffic and cut traffic to 56 kbps on laptop from 12 am to 8 am
