Say, i m going to create a website. I want viewers to post notes or blog on the page.. it may seem similar to forum but its not..
also, i have seen ppl, who create their websites, writing updates in th emain page itself with date and all , as in news page of a portal.. which s/w is tat?

For the first thing, i suppose u wanna have something like an article on a page and having user comments below it. If im rite..? ANyway.. Here is a list of bloggin tools.. u mite wanna check ur purpose and the suitable tool..

well.. for the second thing.. where people write updates on the main page, ahving polls etc usually people go for CMS (content management software).. Many of them are available freely on the net.. Most famous ones are PHP-Nuke, Mambo etc.

PHPNuke is one of the most common ones. It's not difficult to make one on your own, it just takes some PHP knowledge really, similar to how a guest book functions.

You should try to search Google for such software.
