Ok my aging PC doesnt boot sometimes if i disconnect and clean all the components individually with a brush. So need a blower to clean it without disassembling it :P.Now am scared to even clean it witha brush......need a blower as soon as possible .

Went to the near by town and the shop guy showed me two blowers....one indian the other a cheap chinese:

The indian made blower :

this one comes with warranty and all but it costs Rs 1100 but the chinese one is only Rs 700 but no warranty. Also on the package it said the chinese one 450W and 2300RPM ....dont know if that matter :P.

So which one should i get ?:)

WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE ANY OF THE ABOVE BLOWERS FOR CLEANING A PC.

You'll conk off a lot of IC's with it, the air coming out of an electric-blower is contains a LOT OF STATIC. It'll damage your PC permanently(RAM, Mobo, GFX Card, HDD etc...). I know a lot of people who've suffered from the blowing method so I'm warning you in advance.

You only option is to remove every component step by step and clean them individually. Buy a Anti Static Wrist Band too, so that you don't transfer the charges from your body to the components.

BTW these are leaf-blowers and not PC-blowers :P .

Its simple:

More Watt == More powerful blowing capacity

More RPM == More fan speed and ultimately more air

The chinese one, by figures, looks more powerful but you can't trust if they are genuine

So if you want to save money get the Chinese one or if you want warranty and have more money get Indian one

I knew that a pc should be not be cleaned with a blower, but I thought it meant vacuum cleaner blower. I thought these blowers were specifically made to clean PCs so I suggested one, anyways as aman.pitbull said, I agree, do not buy them

ohh man, I remember cleaning my computer with such blower (well I knew about the possible harm, kinda didn't take it seriously :P ). 1 out of 2 hdd went kaput...

I've used these for years with no ill effects, Keep it about 2-3 feet away from your pc and use short bursts and it pretty much does the job

dont use Blower instead use compressed air cans.

Expensive...... tried one from TheITdepot didnt work at all....useless :(.

Ok so it will kill my PC huh? damn i read somewhere on techenclave itself that if i disconnect the power to mobo and press the power button to discharge the caps and then use the blower no harm will come ...thats why i decided on the blower in the first place:(.

What if i dont clean the PC and let the dust accumulate ? will my PC die if i do that? Lot of dust gets into the cabbie after just 30 days and i keep my PC ON 24X7 .

COOl...now am really confused :P

I guess the problem with static electricity and vacuum cleaners comes abroad where they are used commonly to clean carpets and the friction between the plastic and carpets causes a build up of static.

If you can't get a anti static band just use some precautions like touching a metal object (window grill, gate) before proceeding.

I also hold the pc fan blades as an added precaution to avoid them spinning more than their rated capacity from the air blast to avoid damaging an expensive fan :P

Would that help? I mean how does grounding yourself stop the static in the blower?

just hold the end of the blower rubber part with your palm and use in small pulses. no problem then. don't do a rambo style cleaning like cleaning windows :P
