Guide Boost your Steam Downloads/Updates

Here is simple method to boost your Steam updates or downloads..

1. Stop Downloading if exists.
2. Exit from Steam.
3. Go to Steam folder and find Clientregistry.blob file.
4. Simply delete it.

5. Run the Steam and let it update, Log in..
This method force Steam Application to find new servers available. The newer servers will definitely give you faster download/update speed. I was facing the same problem, my steam was giving me only 20kbps download speed. By doing this trick, it went to 150kbps :)

If you are not getting faster download speed even after doing this. Do this 2 or 3 times, you will surely get good speed :)

Edit - If your Steam have crashing bugs.. This method will nearly fix it also. :hap2:

I think that this will nix any Steam Client updates which you already have downloaded.

When I tried using this solution long time back, Steam would download all Steam Client specific stuff all over again (not game related updates).
 
^^ It downloads latest and working Steam Client's information. So you will probably get the latest server information which are seeding the files... Thats how it works :) Try it..

Edit - I already told, Try to do same steps 2-3 times if that don't work.. You will get speed most probably. I jumped from 20kbps to 200 kbps using this method... :hap2:

u mean even if we have speed cap of 300kbps. we can still download at 200 kbps?

also are u talking about KB or kb?

If you have 2mBps plan, then you will get 256kBps max. This tutorial is not for boosting speed above the limit of your ISP Download speed, but for those who are not getting enough speed while downloading games on Steam.
 
dude , it is not a guaranteed workaround. I have a 2mbps conn from Tata and that above step you mentioned didnt work for me.

maybe there is a possibility , but no guarantee :) not that people should not try it . just dont have very high hopes.
 
sorta worked

my cap was around 2mbps - 3mbps but usually got 100-500kbps
now my cap is 5mbps
