Is that possible???

While searching the multi boot options I found this software can do so, I never heard of it so just want expert opinion.

Boot multiple operating systems from a single partition

It claims to do the following

  • Compatible with x64 (AMD64/EM64T) and Windows 64bit OS (non-GPT)
  • IEEE1394/USB 2.0 high-speed support for imaging/partitioning
  • Support for large hard drives (2 TB) and partitions (1-2 TB)
  • Non-destructive resizing and conversion for FAT/FAT32
  • Non-destructive resizing for NTFS
  • Creation and (secure) deletion of partitions/volumes
  • Undelete partitions/volumes
  • FAT/FAT32 formatting
  • Copying and moving of partitions/volumes
  • Support for Linux Ext2/Ext3 and ReiserFS file systems
  • Imaging (including directly to CD-R/RW or DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW)
  • Boot any partition on any hard drive (via BIOS)
  • Booting from the CD/DVD drive (via BIOS)
  • Boot multiple operating systems from a single partition
  • Create over 200 primary partitions (if desired)
  • User ID and password protection

It is certainly possible to boot multiple OS from the same partition as long as the OS'es support the partition format of that partition. There may be strange effects due to the different OS'es overwriting each others files (for example in "C:\Program files"). Maybe this s/w compensates for that by mucking around with directory paths before loading the OS or maybe it does not - check out the documentation.

I have booted Windows 98 and 2000 pro on the same partition but the experiment didnt last very long and wasnt fruitful. So I ditched it.

Now lets see this software and then calculate as to the use for this.

If one OS corrupts the disk or bad sectors etc or viruses then the system is DEAD...

Tech_enthu,

I am still sticking to ur advice of dual boot F8 method, this was just a research of the options for dual booting.

I am happy that you are a inquisitive guy, I learnt everything little I know by trial and error and lots of money wasted of my parents, but they never discouraged me.

i dont see any necessity of multi os on same partition unless u have to pay for creating another partition...

1 unstable os partition would leave u no choice but to redo the whole shit all over again...
