1. The Windows version is able to specify timeout period when it verifies bad sectors; if hard drive is disconnected, the program will stop verifying and prompt message.

3. The free version added the function of partition table style conversion that allows users to convert partition table style between MBR and GUID.
4. It is allowed to select partition table style (MBR or GUID) on the message box when the program performs quick partition.
5. The program shows the menu of copying files when users right click folders of file directory tree on the left interface.

need to partition an existing windows 7 os partition into two parts to load linux from one - which utility would you suggest? prefer to run within windows, get the second partition done and load linux via livecd/usb

500 gb hdd = 20gb primary with os (win7), 470 odd storage and downloads ..

expected - 15gb primary with os (win7), 4-5gb for linux - dual boot option & 470 odd storage and downloads
 
Win 7 needs at least 12GB (with a 4GB pagefile). 15 GB may not be enuf.
Does the Win 7 partition also have the bootmgr file & boot folder ? Or has Win created another hidden partition for the boot files ? Be careful.

I would make a Ghost image of win 7 partition first ( run ccleaner & defraggler before making the image ). Verify image.

Then :
1) Boot from a Win PE/Live. Use Partition Guru to resize the existing partition & create a new primary partition.
or
2) Boot from a Win PE/Live. Use Partition Guru to delete the existing partition & create 2 new primary partitions. Use Ghost to restore Win7 from the image.

Use BOOTICE from Win PE/Live to make the Win 7 partition the active partition, if necessary.

I don't use Linux. grub4dos can be use to chainload Win or linux. Go to reboot.pro - very friendly forum they should be able to assist you with the flavour of Linux you intend using.

Other (Linux using) TE members should be able to help you more than me.

The menu item "Save Scan Progress" is disabled when searching for lost files.
It is not allowed to set volume name or change volume serial number on encrypted BitLocker partition.
