BootMgr is missing

Hello All,

I ve been getting this error ever since i tried to meddle with Vista Bootloader (EasyBCD) tweaker. Not sure how to revert back the changes as anything i try EBCD is making things worse :rofl: . Only relief is that i can start Vista when i put my DVD inside to boot it. The error will not come when the OS is booted with the help of the DVD. I' ve tried repairing the Bootrec by booting the DVD and clicking on repair > command prompt > bootrec /rebuildbcd. No luck with that .. any idea what can be done to restore the bootloader ?.. I can try copying the bootmgr file from the DVD to the C drive where its supposed to be... will that create any more issues ?
 
Go to the Vista DVD \boot folder. There is a file bootsect.exe. Open up an administrative command prompt, and navigate to the file, then run it as:

bootsect.exe /nt60 c:

That was my very first steps .. nogo with that.. if i put my Vista DVD, it boots fine, but if i take it out and restart the system its comes back with bootmgr.exe missing.
 
To all above None have Worked for me.

If it Doesnt Work out Heres Wht i Did.

The Only Way Outta it is Formatting The Partition and nthing else.
 
More details, how many hardisks, how many partitions on your main drive, how many OSs do you have installed, Vista is installed on C?, what did you do with EasyBCD, what were you trying to do?
 
2 Hard drives, 160(hitachi) and 250 GB(WD).. 4 partitions each drive, 250GB has Vista 160GB has XP.. dnt remember what i did with easybcd but i think i tried to rewrite the MBR..
 
I faced the same Issue mate. i also had the same as urs. Xp on 1 and Vista on 1.
I also Tried Messing with the MBR. :P

So , the only Solution is to Re-Install Xp as well as Vista or else ur Good with Inserting the DVD and starting the PC.

and after u re-install make sure u Install Vista first , then XP
 
Ok backtoexistence, I have been a bit busy but you don't need to reinstall, most of these issues can be fixed. Its quite simple once you understand what does what.
