Well, bought X360 from Palika today, modded/firmware flash (either one, dunno). Works like a beauty. Bought 4 copies for 200 each (Superman Returns, WWE SDvsRAW 2k7, Just Cause, Tony Hawks Project 8) + Had 3 original NTSC/U (US) games (GRAW, Dead Rising, Saints Row)
X360 was premium. 20gb hard drive, 1 Wireless Controller, 1 headset (for communicating online).
It runs the games like breeze. It detects the games within seconds and boots, games run flawlessly, import or copied.
Now, to run Xbox1 games, X360 has Backwards Compability. With each Dashboard upgrade through Xbox Live, more titles are added to BC. So I tried to connect to Xbox Live via crappy Airtel 256k. It worked. It asked me to upgrade, and I did (it does not conflict with modchips or custom firmware). Then on the internet I found out Microsoft, fortunately, for now, has not started blocking/banning users who are on modded system running backup.
Though, in Xbox, Microsoft started banning account on modded Xbox's right before Halo 2 launched so people are saying Microsoft may start blocking account only before releasing Halo 3, and for that the modders have already dug up a new technique. Security patches. They patch the security sectors of the ISO backup so Microsoft will see it as an original, or so I've read on plenty of Xbox forums on the internet.
So anyways, I popped in my pirated WWE SDvsRaw2k7, went Xbox Live (got a silver membership, its free!), logged in, no problems, selected a Quick Match, someone from US was hosting a 2 on 2 Tornado Tag match, so I joint. Connected the headset so I could talk with these guys (connects to the controller). All of them selected their custom made wrestlers while I selected Triple H.
Now people started talking, and I could only hear bits and pieces on my headset! I knew it, I knew my crappy 256k is no Broadband, and TRUE BROADBAND is Xbox Lives MINIMUM REQUIREMENT!!
Damn, my first game online and I'm going to choke the game :/
The game started, I turned off the headset to avoid oncoming abuses (don't tell me I didn't have it coming), the response was SOO SLOW! I moved the joystick for Triple H to move, and the button responce for 1-2 seconds late.
Anyways, we went through half the match struggling, and one of them exited the game and it quit on me.
I plugged out the internet cable.
Well that's it. I know airtel has good pings but is that alone enough? I don't think so, these games state they need broadband for a reason, it was ****ing lagging like ****! I can only hope it'll be better on Tata Indicom 512k (should be, if 25 kBps was getting 1-2 seconds late responce)
Well I hope I get double speed tonight, I'll check it again and see if 50kBps enough (but I'm not getting the double speeds since last 4 days).
Well that's it, any questions? Wasn't a good experience but its a start, and another reason to loath the 'Broadband' scene in India.
