hey i guys i m seriously in some deep sh$$ ..........

was fiddlin arnd with my jailbroken touch (os 3.0) tryin to install "appsync" patch i replaced the file "installd" in the path "/usr/libexec/" using a application called "ifunbox"
but i was not able to set the permisson to "755" i was tryin to figure out how to do tht at that time the current went off n since i have a ups back up of only 5 min i was not able to figure it out in tht time .....

then i tried to reboot the touch but it froze then when i tried to reset it but only the "apple " logo appears n after sometimes it reboots again on its own the itunes also does not detect it i cant also turn it off

is there any way to restore it guys plz help me out on this
 
Give it for RMA,tell them that u were using it and all of sudden it stopped working.I had replace my Ipod classic similar way not once but twice.
 
Ipod Touch can never be bricked :) atleast by software means

thats the best part of it

so just try to go to either recover mode

or DFU mode

and then recover it.
 
i thnk the problem is tht i m not able to set the appropriate permission for tht file "installd" .............

if i am able to do tht thn eveythng shld be fine ........

i dnt have a wifi conncetion do u guys know of neway to change the permissions of a file without wifi ....... i tried with winscp but it did not wrk .....

guys please help me out really gettin tensed ........ :huh:
 
easiet option is to format and restore using DFU...

1) Hold the power button for 3 seconds

2)Then hold both the power and home button for 9 seconds

3) Release the power button and just hold the home button for 15 seconds

There's no iPod in the world that bricks. It's just a hang, not bricked. Put your iPod into DFU/Recovery mode, and restore the firmware, download the latest firmware 2.2.1 (for iPod) or buy OS 3.0
 
1. Put iPod in DFU mode

2. Restore using firmware 3.0 (Can be downloaded from many links, PM me for help)

3. Recover data from backup

4. Drink coffee and sync applications
 
hey i was able to restore my ipod .........thnks to u guys u rock ..........:clap:

but i m still to figure out how to install "appsync" without wifi :huh:

^^You can use Edge/GPRS maybe ??

Or get Cyder if you are on PC! Never tried it, but from what I have read it can be used to get all Cydia apps on PC and transfer them via USB to your iPod/iPhone.

I'm having a similar problem. I bought 3.0 and upgraded via iTunes, jailbroke my iPod Touch 2G with redsn0w and it died.

I can't get in DFU mode, the power and hold buttons don't do anything and it's no longer seen by iTunes. My screen is black and I can't wake it up, no Apple logo or anything.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

possibility that the battery died?
 
Hmmm interesting ... I didn't think about that. I bet that's what it is.

I'll just take it to the Apple store and try to get a new one. It's probably still under warranty I got it less than a year ago.
