I just moved to Pune and am staying in Vimaan Nagar. Can some pune people help me decide which internet connection to go for? I can only see airtel right now which succks as it has FUP on every unlimited plan. And, I am coming from Mumbai, where I had an unlimited internet connection from SSV/ fivenet (1.5 mbps, Rs. 750, dc++ support).

I dont mind not having dc, but a stable internet with good speeds (>1mbps unlimited for less than 1500) would be good. Of course without any FUP. So, let me know what ISPs are available. In the meanwhile I am googling a lot for this..

Unfortunately there are no good ISP in this area, I live nearby the place you live (wadgaon sheri) and cant see any good ISP in the area. I an using BSNL 3G form last 6 months which gave good speed but it's validity will be oven in next 2 days and still havent founf any ISP.

Tikona is providing internet at low price but their service is vary bad, my friend who had tikona connection told me to stay away from it.

Reliance wimax is another option which has no FUP but the price is too high, 1500 Rs for 600Kbps.

BSNL seem to be the only option.
 
This sucks man............ Is BSNL any good?

Also, I think, MTNL is only available in Mumbai and Delhi or is it available in Pune also?

BSNL is ok but heard lots of downtime now a days as they aer digging roads every where in this area.

MTNL is not available in Pune.
 
I stay in sus road...none of the ISPs other than sify is ready to provide connection in this region... howz the sify connection? i am planning to go for 512 kbps plan??? what's the download speed and is there any FUP on it???
 
I'm afraid there's no other reliable connection apart from Airtel. Their uptime is almost a 100% for me and apart from the FUP which does happen to me every month(I bear with it).

So what I do and you can also do it is, get Airtel - 2 mbps at around INR 1600 PM and download your first 20 gb(FUP limit) at high speeds then you download the rest at 512k :-S.

Basically, I prioritize my downloads and leave the not so important but yet needed ones for the slow days. :-)
 
Tikona does not have any FUP, right????
This is what I am planning:

1) Get a Tikona connection (750 Kbps) = Rs. 750 p.m.
2) Get a BSNL connection BBG FN Combo 500 (upto 2 mbps, night unlimited 2:00AM - 8:00AM) = Rs. 500 p.m.

Total = 750 + 500 = 1250 p.m.

So, I get unlimited downloads from Tikona and from BSNL at night plus the reliabillity of BSNL.

I'll first go for Tikona. If it has any reliability issues, I'll get a BSNL too.. Any comments? And, thanks for the comments so far... :)
 
This was the best plan I was eyeballing. I called Reliance and they told me that its not available in my area..... :(
 
What is the FUP limit. I saw that they have mentioned this in FAQ on their website, but they havent mentioned exact numbers.

How is Sify? They have a plan for 1mbps unlimited for 898 + tax + maintenance.. How is the customer service? Is Sify reliable>?
 
I too stay in Viman Nagar ( Where xactly are u BTW :P ). I used to be on Airtel since the golden non-FUP days, but post that I switched to a modest TATA connection. . never had a complaint since :)
 
OMG, I took Tikona, and boy, am I disappointed!!!

I paid 1450 for Unlimited 750 kbps plan.... First, they have not installed anything yet. The demo guy game me his equipment to use the internet. I have been getting speed of 300 kbps MAX... (i.e. a speed of 30 -45 KBps, instead of around ~85 KBPS that I should have)... It sucks... The cc is pathetic. They open the case and close it... just like that.

I am gonna go for BSNL now. Unlimited 512 kbps plan....for 750 rs. Does BSNL have any FUP???
