Broadband ISP-Hathway or Reliance?

Hey guy..

finally got FREE!! 20 days high speed dedicated 256kbps (not pure unlimited) package from SIFY after fighting for 10 days :P

getting constant speed of 30-32kb/s
i dont want to stick to sify anymore so i decided to change over to HATHWAY or RELIANCE.

my main priorities are

1.Net should be always on

2.good speed. minimum 20kb/sec speed.
i have no experience with both the ISP's i wud like to subsribe so hence asking you ppl.

do let me know pros and cons of both of em..

hope to get good replies as ive already got.

Hathway and Reliance both in my experience are pathetic. If you are interested only in speeds than Hathway will give you what you want but for online gaming both are crap.

I have used Hathway for about 6 - 7 years now and they had been good ... untill the last couple of months back. Since the last couple of months every day morning and evening the line gets disconnected for one hour and I have to wait to be connected back.

Hathways service had been top notch but not any more - I have complained to them more than 10 times about the poor state of their connectivity and no one is bothered to do anything about it. Not a single reply to a number of emails. I am now considering changing my ISP. Only thing is I read horror stories of all the ISPs who operate in my area so I dont know what to do. Airtel does not operate in my area. I will only use an UNLIMITED account which leaves me very few to choose from. I have this thing about anything Reliance - will never use them. I may consider VSNL as a last resort.
 
i am talking about wireless USB dongle which is new thing come out with reliance. 1500 a month at 144kbps wireless anywhere in india?
 
r u sure i should go for tata? bloody he is asking money quarterly.. i dont want to block my money like Friedclyde did (i think he blocked 11.5K). anyways... i believe in monthly payment though it may be termed little expensive :P
 
My tata experience is crap...i vote for Reliance...theyre offering 150 and 300kbps plans unltd and upto 4mpbs limited use plans in Juhu scheme!
 
^^^ those plans arent availabel in my area.. i would have to purchase wireless USB dongle. speed offered on dongle is 144kb/sec at 1500 bux unlimited usage anytime.
 
Reliance came to me with the most dumbest plan on earth 156kbps unlimited for 990 buks......nobody offers such scheme....as we are brand....

Eazy would recommend to stick with hathway......i m doing the same as i face same prob like yours and stuk to it for 4 years now.....

Jus hope big revolution to happen and we get cheap wireless net...

our wired revolution is not even perfectly working.. too much of breakdowns :bleh:
i think i will prioritize Hathway as 1st option and TATA as 2nd option.
my friend recently bought New hathway connection (256 unlimited)
he is gettin speed ranging from 23-29 any speed at anytime in that range. however his net has never went offline. so is 29kb/sec max speed of hathway?
 
I spoke to a neighbour today and was told that she got a call from Hathway about a new 512kbps unlimited conx being offered for 1600/- per month. I must find out more about this.
 
^^^^^that would be great considering i pay Rs. 1150 for 256 unlimited connection. btw i will vote for hathway too but it seems to me hathway doesnt bother about customers, its your local service provider who would either set or break standards.
 
hmm i just switched to hathway , i use a quarterly plan , 512k (unlimited from 11 pm to 9pm.... ) which costs me 1500 for 3 months.the sucky part is the 3gb cap for 3 months :S ...but since i am a student i come back home at around 7 which leaves about 4 hrs of chargeable browsing for most of the week. that is manageable.
Hathway is good, at least so far. i get good speeds in the mornings and in the afternoons (80-100 odd KBps), however at night, the speeds are pretty bad from 11-12....and hathway isn't blocking ports for torrents in coimbatore as of yet, so as of now, im on a downloading spree :)

I was on reliance earlier, and i honestly wouldn't recommend it.

mmm...if there is a cap of 3GB then howcome its an unlimited plan?:huh:

This 3 gb cap may be correct - I suspect the lady did not understand when I asked if her connection was unlimited :S
