Hey guys,

Recently rented a flat in Chembur (West).

Currently using Reliance Netconnect Brodband+ (Limits = 10GB Day + 10GB Night) for 1450+Tax which is way costlier.

Was wondering which are the possible (optimum) options for Broadband connection considering all the parameters (speed, price & Service)..

Also I am looking only for 'Unlimited (no FUP) plans'.

Regards,

I guess a very good option for you will be MTNL Triband. Although there may be initial hiccups in getting connection but service is really good, speeds are stable.

Go for MTNL triband or Reliance broadnet.

Have been using reliance for a year now and more than satisfied :D

But Reliance been blocking sites..atleast on Netconnect.. !!

In case of MTNL, do I need a landline or anything ?

they used to during their launch of kites and the subsequent links made available on the net. everything is back to normal :D

also check for five networks because they have an awesome DC++ hub. (this is what i've heard from fellow TE members)

Can any Chembur residents (or ones who have idea about local connections in chembur ) please comment ?

I stay in chembur east. I think MTNL would be your best bet in terms of reliability.

I use hathway .. but i'm not happy with their service.. they keep changing/upgrading plans to rival mtnl and make you pay 100 bucks each time you want to change your plan.

besides that you've got Fivenet also.. but the local guy in my area who provides five net is from kurla and the service wasnt good at all when i was using it around 2 years back

with rains around.. i suggest you try for mtnl .. or else check for alternatives like hathway, airtel(if its in your area), five net, rajeshnet.(again this one is a local cable provider in ghatkopar chembur area)

Thanks will find their contacts and call them up...

Yes you do need a landline and applying for one is not a big deal. Infact ask MTNL if they can provide a landline exclusively for broadband. I guess they have such a scheme where possible no calling only broadband like thing.

Still that will incur extra charges.. :|..

Anyways I have to find info about Local connections..

Because that will also given an advantage of DC++ hubs..

With reliance you will get dc++ as well.

Also i got my reliance connection without any installation charge,so check in your area if its the same.

can you specify your budget, speed and any other want so that i will be able to help you better

atm TATA TTML 1MBPS downloads and uploads unlimited

multi-user

no FUP

rs.1599

is the best to stay in budget and have good speeds

1599 is out of my budget coz I am already using Reliance Netconnect with rent upto 1550 per month..

So I am planning to switch to 500/600Rs plan for Reliance Netconnect..

And planning to get a Cabled connection in range of

700-800/month

Unlimited and no FUP

Atleast 512kbps

In that case you have the following unlimited options from MTNL

512 Kbps - 599 + taxes

752 Kbps - 749 + taxes

1 Mbps - 999 + taxes

They are unlimited and no FUP is there. Suits you right ?

Fivenet would be a good choice for you! Lots of plans to choose from, decent speeds! But not sure about the service since it would be provided by your local cable operator!

@raks :- Thanks, its definitely an option..Need to call MTNL and enquire about landline details.

@Pat:- Any contact no/link/info about Fivenet Plans and details ?

Googled for it but couldn't find it.

Thanks gauz..

Their plans indicate 8mbps ???!!! seriously..??

1030 kbps - Rs. 450/month
1540 kbps - Rs. 800/month

Thats dirt-cheap ?!! or am I missing something..
