Well..a few modems i'd read somewhere we could configure 2 brdges mode to connect to airtel/tata indicom respectivly.(any 2 isps for that matter ... )

Unfortunately..i've never tried it personally..:(

If u mean to use both ISP at same time in windows...i dont think it's possible with just the default modems & the pc..

Tata indicom gives the speeds they advertised. They are known for good speeds.only problem with them ,once your connection goes down you are gonna have one hell of time.:P

Any idea why their connection goes down :P, in airtel i hardly have any downtime.

Edit: called up tata, they told minimum of 1mbps will be provided and he also added that since my area has less number of peeps with BB connection, i'll be mostly getting 2Mbps, is this statement true?? oh and the upload speed is caped at 512Kbps.

i have been using the Quick Power 180 + 9pm to 9am Night UL pack and so far its been pretty nice...

torrents avg 230-240kB/sec and http downloads avg 250kB/sec....even previously when i did use the 2mbps time based plans i always got good speeds....

very much. I've seen peeps here getting 2Mbps on 256Kbps airtel bb. Coz, airtel business plan says - 256Kbps Upto 2Mbps ;) when i subscribed to BSNL bb about 1.5 years back, i used to get upto 34~35Kbps download speeds. Now it tops out at 24~25Kbps.

but as more peeps get connected from your area, ur speeds will gradually drop. But u'll get the minimum speeds assured no matter how many peeps sign up from ur area. so, if they say 1Mbps, make sure they put it down in writing :P

and 512Kbps upload is awesome!!! BSNL 256 plan caps upload at 64kbps :@

2Mbps means 250KBps but we will assume it to be 230KBps as we never get full peak speed.

360Hrs for 6 months.

360 / 24 = 15 thats just 15days of unlimited access.

So total maximum amount of data that can be dowloaded.

1.> For 250 KBps [ideal]

250 x 60 x 60 = 878 MB/hr

878 x 360 = 308.671 GB in 6 months = 51.333 GB per month.

2.> For 230 KBps [practical]

230 x 60 x 60 = 828 MB/hr

828 x 360 = 291.093 GB in 6 months. = 48GB per month

Thats just 15Days of unlimted net usage , not that gr8.

========================================================

On the Mtnl night unlimited plan which offers 2Mbps speed for just 9 Hrs from 00:00 Hrs to 08:00 Hrs u get 9 Hrs of full 2Mbps.

So that wud be 230KBps x 30 Days x 9 x 60 x 60 = 218.320GB permonth.

Just look at that 218.320GB per months

I know that u dont get mtnl at ur place but look for other isp or night unlimted plans they are gr8.

I know that u dont get mtnl at ur place but look for other isp or night unlimted plans they are gr8.

But you forgot to add the 9pm to 9am Night Unlimited to that!!!

thats 12hrs of 2mbps everyday for Rs 99/-.....using this the Quick Power 360 will last a whole month as u'll need to use only 12hrs a day from it...12 x 30 = 360

so basically you are getting 24hrs of 2mbps for Rs 3641/-!!

Quick Power 360 for 12 hrs + Night unlimited 9pm to 9 am = 24hrs

and under ideal speeds you can download close to 20gb a day...

so thats 20gb x 30 = 600 gb a month!

And considering 512K UL is for Rs 2100/- and the Postpaid 1mpbs UL is for 3600/- + taxes.....I'd take that 2mbps all day for Rs 3641/- anyday!!!

well you can always opt for two connections, one 256 ultd for 1120 per month plus the time based and night ultd for 670, sums up to 1800, not ultd 24x7 but gets the job done :P

00:00 hrs to 08:00 = 8hrs not 9hrs :P :P

So that wud be 230KBps x 30 Days x 8 x 60 x 60 = 194.062GB per month
But everything isnt rosy on the Tata side either....the Rs 99/- for the night unlimited is deductated from your existing prepaid amount...

so if you select the Quick Power 360 which is for Rs 3641/- with a usable value of Rs 3240. The night unlimited tarriff will be deducted from this value...since you cant top it up with Rs 99/- as such!!

So if you take the Quick Power 360 which has a validity for 6 months but use the entire amount of (Rs 3240 - Rs 99 ) during 1 month...you cant top up with Rs 99/- and use only the night unlimited for the remaining 5 months.

so you need to keep re charging your account everytime....and the minimum amount is Rs 1922/- for the Quick Power 180.

But since i am already paying Rs 2079/- per month for 512K UL the above seems like a pretty good bargain. The combination of Quick Power 180 + Night Unlimited.
I wont be able to use the net 24x7 for 30 days straight...but i can still use it close to 18hrs a day @ 2 mbps for 30 days and all this for Rs 1922/-!!
Seems like a good deal to me!!

ok i didnt knew about that it even has 9 to 9 unlimited along with the 360Hrs.

then its absolutely rocking.

ok ok ok my mistake :ashamed:
Also i did a cal mistake , ur right its 8 hrs.

ok Guyz, have decided to get the Quick Power 360 and use it from 9pm to 9 am and rest of the time i'll use airtel u/l.

Secondly, can any one help me with batch file which can d/c my airtel at 9.04pm and connect to tata @ 9.05pm and the vice versa in the morning.

to connect make a batch file like this...

rasdial 'connection name' 'username' 'password'

to disconnect make a batch file containing this

rasdial 'connection name' /disconnect

After you make connect and disconnect files for airtel n tata use the windows scheduler to schedule them...

Dont use the quotes....

Is there any such night >=512kbps unlt offer in hyd frm any service...

my dwnload speed sucks...getting speeds b/w 15-25k/s most of the time...sometimes even less...:@

Dial-up Scheduling

this link shows how to create a batch file and then schedule them using windows scheduler...

to create a batch file...go to the command promt...and type edit 'filename'.bat (filename is anyname u want to give without quotes)

and when using the scheduler use the browse option to locate the files that u have created and schedule them...

if anyone needs more help.....feel free to ask! :D
