hey guys... to all Linux / Ubuntu Users.

Well i installed Ubuntu Intrepid on my Studio 15 lappie..

well i've got issuses with the wireless.. the wireless seems 2 b detected "it gives the details" but in ifconfig / iwconfig it shows "no wireless device found / associated".

Due to this obv, my wireless isnt working which is really frustrating.

Also i installed all packages / latest package update after installing the Ubuntu and also played around wtih Ati Proprietary software/drivers. After this i also installed Compiz, well the effects and stuffs are fine but there is a glitch while minimizing and maximazing or restoring effect??? no idea what this is caused by :(

...guys need help... SPecially ROCKVELLA and VISHAL ?????

PS: ALso have Vista installed on the same machine and installed Ubuntu using WUBI and WIFI works fine on the vista.

- ALso played around with the settings in the BIOS but no luck...

...TIA..(not a techie in linux tho) :)

For me with 8.10 if I go to System menu -> Administration -> Hardware drivers

It should show options for both ATI and Broadcom... ( I have nvidia)

Choose the Broadcom "STA wl" item and click "activate" , you'll need to be connected via WIRED LAN for it to download stuff...upon next boot WiFi should work, at least it worked very easily for me with 8.10 and same 4312 chip.

After a reboot you can go back to this menu and select ATI item to activate then reboot...

Does that work?

PS: How did you "install" Compiz? By going to System -> Preferences -> Appearance menu or by downloading COmpiz yourself?
