First and foremost the first question that comes to your mind is this:

A.
1.To sync ur phone with some online syncing services

2.Yours is a s60 symbian phone

Theese limitations is simply because those are the things I have.

Thats all...you have finished all the configurations needed. Now fire up the opera browser (it doesn't work with the default browser) and browse away!!!!!

wht it actually does???in laymans language...i find the topic name little confusing......

does it makes a user having a bluetooth mobile to browse net on pc..without gprs and all or wht??

or is it the settings with gprs and all activated????

The above thing lets u use ur PC as a middleman and lets u browse the internet from ur mobile without the using GPRS.This has a greater speed as u share the internet connection u use on the PC with the mobile.

Ive seen speeds of around 10KB/s on this connection where as u only get 3-5KB/s on GPRS.

u mean man...suppose i buy a new 6630 and a get a good bluetooth dongle........
than even though have no value on my prepaid........even then i can use net via all this setiings??????

is that possible.........using net without paying for it...also if so......does it drains mobile battery alot..lik i heard abt gprs net...also does having edge on mobile will help???

yes u can browse for free.u are sharing the internet connection of the PC with the mobile just like connecting two PCs in LAN and accessing net from them.

IT does drain battery as the bluetooth connection is used all the time.

I don't know whether EDGR speeds can be obtained though.

i was really looking for this .... using net thru phone with bluetooth ..... i have a 7610 and tried all this but i am not getting some setting as u have mentioned ....

phone ip address:automatic

primary name server:leave default/0.0.0.0

second.name server:same as above

proxy server address:10.0.0.1

proxy port no.:6588

use callback:no

callback type:default/use server no

use PPP compression:yes

use login script:yes

login script:

data bearer:high speed GSM "only option for GPRS"

dial-up number:any 3-digit no. (i use 222)

user name:none

prompt password:no

password:leave as it is

authentication:normal

homepage:none

data call type:analogue

maximum data speed:automatic

i am not able to see all the high lighted options :(

hey kumar..the small confusion is still there for me.......it does is u will get internt on pc via mobile right na???..or u mean if u have on pc then u will get on mobile

@Rahul
I think u need to create a GSM data access point. That may be the reason the settings related to that pirticular type of accesspoint are not visible

@MAGNeT
Its internet on PC available on mobile.

NOTE:
All the software needed for the internet connection sharing via bluetooth is already there on your phone when you buy it. Only the user interface (the connection settings dialogs) are designed so that you are not able to utilize them in this way and need to pay for the data services of your operator.

By changing the settings using GnuBox, you can plug the existing modules of the operating system together in such a way that it 'dials' the internet using a bluetooth connection to your machine.
NOTE:This proceadure may seem long but after some time ull get the hang of it

ANOTHER NOTE:This proceadure is the best example of HACKING and as such is very VERY unstable. The connection generally is successfull only 50% of the time.

YET ANOTHER NOTE:The original guide and more info about GNUbox can be obtained at the below sites,

Official GNUbox Site

Symbianos.org

Embedded Interaction
