BSNL Bandwith increased?

Totally OT:^Do you play TF2 as nickname "Pro@$#Proper$@ smthing.?

Just asked cause last night an indian was playing with same avatar as yours.

@Others: Ive noticed an average 60% speed boost.

Fluctuates a bit on mine. Lets hope it settles down to a constant double.
Well, the network seems under load. as the overall latency has increased.

For example,
This is the latency now:
Code:
gaurish ~ > ping -c 5 google.com
PING google.com (74.125.19.106) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from nuq04s01-in-f106.1e100.net (74.125.19.106): icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=467 ms
64 bytes from nuq04s01-in-f106.1e100.net (74.125.19.106): icmp_seq=2 ttl=51 time=465 ms
64 bytes from nuq04s01-in-f106.1e100.net (74.125.19.106): icmp_seq=3 ttl=51 time=466 ms
64 bytes from nuq04s01-in-f106.1e100.net (74.125.19.106): icmp_seq=4 ttl=51 time=453 ms
64 bytes from nuq04s01-in-f106.1e100.net (74.125.19.106): icmp_seq=5 ttl=51 time=455 ms

--- google.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 8879ms
[B]rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 453.700/461.778/467.882/5.936 ms[/B]
Three days back, I used to get about 300ms ping on same route.now this is huge drop in network performance(about 30-40%) I am pretty sure its because of increased load of Double usage offer:|

i was happy until i read this...........
Promotional scheme to offer double Bandwidth Speed from the existing bandwidth Speed for Certain Home and Rural Unlimited Plans for a limited period upto 30.04.2010

Kyun bataya? Ek mahine ke liye to khush rehne dete.

Its just a demo for them to check if the backbone can handle the load :p
Even though I have not got any speed bumps as I am on a Home 500 Combo +, still the connection have become very flaky from yesterday ! Anyways I am sure they will upgrade and sort out the issues and if all goes fine....we can expect the new plans. And ya I am sure there will be some FUP :( after which speeds will become 256k !

They are welcome to have a 150GB FUP on the Home750 plan.

i am sure the speed burst is to check if they can handle the load if they double the existing speeds.

going by their enthusiasm regarding the bband scenario, they surely dont give two hoots abt promo schemes.

@Supra

i think they surely will double the speeds of basic plans like those of the home 750.

Maybe the plans which end up not more than 1Mbps will be included as well. FUP might come in beyond 1Mbps.

Okay, Some improvement in network. maybe because its a non-peak time, hence less traffic?

Code:
Pinging google.com [74.125.19.103] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 74.125.19.103: bytes=32 time=366ms TTL=54

Reply from 74.125.19.103: bytes=32 time=393ms TTL=54

Reply from 74.125.19.103: bytes=32 time=410ms TTL=54

Reply from 74.125.19.103: bytes=32 time=432ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 74.125.19.103:

    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

    Minimum = 366ms, Maximum = 432ms, Average = 400ms

I ve started to hate the bandwidth increase..Cuz my pings have gotten higher and has almost become impossible for me to play in BC2 Servers..minimum am getting is 350..grrr!

I want 256kbps back :( less load!

Nice, same thing here

256kbps bumped to doubled, ddl's givin even 70-72KBps.

Sad its only for a month, but hey 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth' :)

Man, I am totally enjoying speed bump. Now I can watch full length movies youtube streaming live without buffering, First Time Ever. Saw MP3 today

Now its seems pointless to download movies, when you can just watch it right away:D

I think we in Trivandrum have been upgraded.
Consistent DL speeds in the range of 800-900 kbps on a Home UL1350 Plan. THis has been happening for the past week or so.

Also BSNL have some new plans up, but the advertised speeds for teh HUL1350 plan has stayed the same, although there is an actual increase in bandwidth.
