I disconnected my Bsnl internet service at end of last month due to line being dead from April this year. The service tracking shows that broadband service has been deprovisioned but I still see the self care portal showing it as a service.
I got sms saying bill for this month is 675. But if service is not there why should I pay for it? The online payment portal does not show any bill of 675 though. It was showing July bill which was already paid.

What should I do now? Sit quietly and not pay the bill or go to customer care center and tell them they have charged for non existing service?
Has anyone got bill for bb service even after disconnecting it?

I had this issue with Tata, Reliance and BSNL.

I didn't pay Tata and they are still pestering me after 2.5 years. There's case going on in court with Reliance. BSNL guys are illiterate so discussion over phone/email didn't work out. I paid a visit to one of their senior illiterate babus and he rectified the bill.

I decided to stick with BSNL from now on. It's easier to communicate with illiterates in India (When in Rome...)

I got the bill in pdf format now. Its for July month. (the invoice period says from 1-31 july). That means I will have to pay it right? :(
My earlier reliance netconnect+ was stopped without any extra bill from reliance. I guess I was lucky. Need to go to their shop and return the device to get deposit or money back.

You need to visit the BSNL CSC and talk to a senior person. You can find names of these seniors at the back of your paper bill. Only these guys can amend your bill. In my case, this senior guy wrote the correct amount on my bill and made an entry in his register. I presented that hand-modified bill to the cashier and he scribbled something in his register. He asked me to wait for 1 month to get this information updated on their servers.

All the process was manual just like they used to do in the 80s. Sarkari babus prefer to work that way and I found it to be much more efficient than the other guys (TATA etc) who prefer everything digitized.

Had the same issue with BSNL few years back. Sent the D.E. a copy of the surrender of my connection along with two written complaints that my connection was down for two months due to road digging...
They waived off the bill and gave me a settlement letter. I had to pay 350 to settle this all for which I even got a receipt. They did all this under some scheme where customers who had stopped paying their bills for any reason could approach BSNL and negotiate the outstanding and settle everything. I dont remember the name of the scheme but you should be able to find it on their site. Try approaching the CSC office directly.

Don't worry. If you haven't transferred any byte of data last month you won't have to pay a single rupee. Irregularities in the bill and related dispute is very common in BSNL. Just keep every months bill, receipt and any document related to disconnection and head to the local office they'll tell you the process for getting it rectified.

My bsnl BB is dead from last year due to some road construction work and every month i keep receiving bills both on mobile and e-mail. At the very first month i met the local S.D.E.O in Bsnl and he assured me that as soon as it'll be restored my bill will be rectified accordingly.

A funny incident with BSNL... Almost 5yrs ago when my friend disconnected his Bsnl BB and surrendered his phone connection as well i still used to consume his monthly quota of data using his user id & pass... and this continued for 4-5 months before it finally got deactivated(that time we didn't have binded port in our local exchange). Doesn't matter how advanced they are their billing system and database will remain erroneous.

first thing you have to do is to book complaint through IVRS i.e. 198 so your phone is treated as dead technically and bill will be not raised from that date, if you are not booked your complaint then go to your nearest office or csc give them a complaint copy mentioning date of disconnection and your are having broadband and write brief details about your problems make sure you acknowledge the same copy with recieved signature and seal of csc or office . rest is up to them to rectify your problem.
