I got a BSNL broadband connection on 'Home 500 plan' (speed upto 2 Mbps and night 2 to 8 free download)

There was an instance when I turned-on the modem at 1:11 AM but did not use internet or any download agents. I started downloading via Utorrent only at 2:15 AM and switched off the modem at 7:45 AM but when I checked the usage @ BSNL site it showed me that I downloaded around 300 MB b/n 1:11 to 2:00.

I am sure no download happened b/n these times. Pls Help

Seeing this happeneing.... I never turned on my modem before 2 AM. The next day I turned on the modem at 2:05 and started downloding at 2:10....when I checked the usuage again it showed I 100 MB download from 1:55AM to 2:00AM. The thing is when I switch off the modem it shows the correct time but when I switch it on the time is advanced:huh:

I taked to the BSNl ppl but they said once u get the first bill u can file a complaint and they will look into it:no: But I am afraid by the time I receive my first bill I would be overbilled by around 5 grand

Pls help guys

Eat their brains out .. a few users have raised their voices at their offices and only then they catered to their needs.. threat them wid consumer forum ..

Or

Shift to Unltd Plan ... the extra few bucks is worth the peace of mind.. take my word for it

Or

Stop using ur net till the bill comes out and eventually Dump BSNL :death:

try changing ur username and password on the site. install a software like netmeter which will monitor the amount of data uploaded and downloaded in ur machine. u can then verify whether ur getting any differences between the netmeter and bsnl readings. :)

The only reason I took this plan as I could download almost 5 times more data than the unlimited plan (I can only download from evening 8Pm to moring 8 Pm as I am in office for the rest of the time)

I changed the PWD... and have a software called bandwidth monitor.... but the software does not work too well:(

their timings are all screwed up, just to be safe , connect and disconnect at 2:15 and 7:45. I was hit by quite a few multi K bills before i shifted to unlimited

PS, one more thing , if you, say connect at 1:00 AM and disconnect at 1PM, but download 1GB between 2-8, bsnl folks have no idea to determine when you downloaded the 1G.All they know is that you downloaded 1G between 1 AM and 1PM. so they assume an even distribution , 1 GB for 12 hours , of which only 6 are free. in the end , you get charged for 500GB because they dont know how to measure , or cant.

What i did was create two bat files with the command

rasdial <connectionname> <username> <password>

rasdial <connectionname> /disconnect

and run them at 2:15 and 7:45 to connect and disconnect in addition to the utorrent scheduler.

Great Idea mate.... Thanks a lot...:)

BTW: I don't wanna enable pwd....So can I hibernate and then automatically switch on at 2:15:huh:

create another userid with username and password, and use that account to run the bat files in scheduler. Thats what i used to do :D
