Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd will reduce international call rates by 33 per cent from May 20. The existing rate of Rs 18 per minute for calls to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Gulf region, Africa and the SAARC countries will fall to Rs 12 per minute.
The rate cut was announced by BSNL chairman and managing director A.K. Sinha on the occasion of the World Telecom Day. The reduced rates will be applicable from landline, cellular and WLL networks of the company.
BSNL has also decided to offer a discount of 25 per cent on domestic bandwidth. The discount on domestic bandwidth would be applicable in 74 major cities, including all state capitals and union terrorties. In fact, BSNL's reduced leased line tariffs are lower than what the TRAI had recommended.
