Hi,
I have a BSNL dial up connection at home. It was working fine for me till last week, but suddenly it got really slow, sometimes not working at all. Earlier i used to get d/l speeds of over 4 KBps, now it's down to 0.5 - 1.5 KBps. What happens is, the connection gets dialled properly, then it works for about 5 seconds and stops working for 10 seconds. This keeps happening over and over. I don't think this is a problem with BSNL because my friend uses the same connection and it's working fine for him. Could someone please tell me what's wrong with this stupid connection and how I can fix it?? :(

pick up the phone and see if you hear any noises on the line...btter still, press any button so that the dial tone goes...try to detect noises on the silent line now....

Noisy lines are the bane of DUN connections......

Also, did you install any parallel lines recently.....If u need to use parallel lines, try to ensure that the incoming wire goes to the PC 1st and subsequent lines are connected after the modem through splitters

I haven't changed the setup of my phones or PC at all. The connection just decided to stop working. I picked up the phone and there's no noise on it. Could the slow speeds be due to something else?
