Sierra Wireless MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card install in Lenovo Ideapad 560P
Was free on this sunday with a itch to finger around my laptop I have a Lenovo Ideapad 560P which has a mini PCI port port for an MSATA SSD like this one MyDigitalSSD 64GB 50mm Bulletproof mSATA SSD | My Digital Discount . I also had a spare Sierra Wireless 595U datacard with spoilt usb connector . Datacard has MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card inside the casing . Opened my laptop and installed the Sierra Wireless MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card

No driver installed required , no BIOS hack required , recognized it as Sierra Wireless MC5725 modem in first go and auto installed the drivers . Configured this MC5725 with my existing working Sierra Wireless 595U card , same settings and same esn
took out the antenna strip from the datacard and stuck it on MC5725 but still no signal . tried both the main and aux ones . Still no signal . Finally took out the pigtail which i had purchased earlier , connected it to my patch antenna and voila it was fully functional . Used it around 30 odd minutes with no difference with the real datacard .

I wanted to leave it permanently there and take a new connection with 1x 250 plan for internet while mobile but the heavy protruding pigtail is an issue and i dont want to make a hole in the mesh of the cover . WIFI antenna is there but use the WIFI so will not take it out . I can get a screen WIFI antenna from ebay.com but how to install it ? Any pointers as WIFI antenna is already installed in screen . Without the pigtail there was no signal and i dont blame it as it is at the base facing the ground . I know it kills the aim of Sierra Wireless which has a battery for improved signal but had this spare one which is not working so all hit and tries

i cant even think of it doing such thing with my 595. Heck, even i have bought the small mobile pouch for it. :ashamed:
