I have asked to changed my plan from HU750 to Home Combo 500 yesterday.
I am worried about one thing. Will BSNL charge me for the data I upload+download before the change?

Ex: Since I gave the request yesterday, if they change my plan on 15th of this month, will I not be charged for the data I downloaded from 2nd March to 15th March since I was technically in the UL plan? or
will they charge me for data downloaded for whole month and put additional usage charges saying only 1.5Gb is allowed per month

Anyone migrated from UL plan to limited plan know how these guys bill?

Also read that plan changes come into effect from next day onwards of request by customer, but till now, the user page on bsnl portal is still showing I'm on UL750 plan. Also I was told they will inform me after plan is changed. So can I download non stop till then?

The plan change will be effective from 1st of next month . I'll show you some pics of BSNL upgradation.

Earlier I had Home 500 plan but changed to Unlimited 1350 plan from this month

I applied for it on 3 Februrary 2010 but Work Order Date was issued 1/3/2010.

When i enquired about this , BSNL DG said " Earlier we used to change plan from the day or next day once the application was submitted. But there were discrepancies and controversies regarding billing for that month . So BSNL had decided to change plans from next month."

Even if you apply for plan change on March 31 , your plan will change on April 1 2010.

So nothing to worry. I changed my plan . I'll show you my portal track orders. See and believe bro

This shouldn't have happened . Track your portal order . If it says Provisioned , then only its confirmed that plan change has been effective

Earlier Bsnl Tactics for Plan Change :

If your plan change is from 5th, you previously had Unlimited 750 and you changed to Home 500. Then till 5th you will have to pay the charge as (750/30 ) X 5 = Rs 75, even if you shifted to Home 500 plan. And for the next 25 days you should pay (500/30 ) X 25 = Rs 416.666 . If you have exceeded 2133.33 MB (25/30 of 2.5 GB) then you will have to pay for the extra usage as per the plan charges

Now i know you will think that i am a liar and i made false comments and given false evidence , but plan changes nowadays happens from 1st on next month from the date of application of your plan change. You can ask anyone about the plan change here .

But do track your portal order and post your portal order status here

I don't know why this had happened , but do calculate your charges accrodingly then

And bro your speed can never be equal to 334kbps . On 2 mbps broadband , BSNL max download speed is 256kbps . U cannot have 334kbps download speed . Maybe it was a speed surge in your line or just upgrading your line to automated process so plan change will be effective from 1st of next month

That speed surge must have been temporary . Try again and post results

 Don't think too much into it. I'm not saying you are liar. You were right too since that was what happened to you. I think from March onwards that BSNL have changed the rules. I got the news with my telephone bill, that they will change bb plan in two days time. Also my portal page is showing new plan and old plan data usage till plan changed is shown as 0 usage.

Don't worry, I believe what you said. Also that speed test I did three times and it came almost same. But downloading is just at 150-200Kbps Might be cached results. :S
