BSNL launches low-cost tablets

BSNL has launched three tablets including two 7 inch resistive screen based tabs with Android 2.3 operating system while the third tablet comes with an 8 inch capacitive touchscreen.

Made by Noida based company - Pantel, the tablets will be sold with discounted data plans from BSNL. The three tablets are priced at Rs 3.250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500.

Aakash is priced at just Rs 2500. However, Tpad has better specification than the Datawind's low cost tablet.

Tech specs on paper hardly matter. Its all about the implementation. I can see it uses resistive screen which can be difficult to get used to. But only time will tell if it will be better than the mess that was aakash.

All the three tablets were launched on Friday and will be available from March 1 in retail outlets.

[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which has launched three tablets on Friday, will offer attractive data plans with the tablets. According to the government owned teleco, all the tablets will come with bundled data plan of 5 GB for 60 days and after that consumers can do the recharge for Rs 750 for availing the same offer. This special offer of BSNL plan will be available till May 31.

BSNL yesterday launched three tablets manufactured by Noida based company, Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL), in the price range of Rs 3,499 and Rs 13,000. Entry level tablet, Penta IS701R is priced of Rs 3,499 and two mid-range tablets with 7 inch and 8 inch displays cost Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500 respectively. All the three tablets will be available in BSNL outlets and retail stores across India from March 1st.[/font]

^ What way is it original link? It looks like a blog post to me. Its not owned by BSNL or the company making the tablet too. just some freelancer.

Guys few have prebooked BSNL 'Patel', have already got quick confirmation, where as few people got no reply from Aakash
 
Does using a resistive touch screen help in saving cost to high extent over a Capactive one , why do low range tablets provide resistive

^^ because a decent capacitive touch screen cost more than the cost of whole tablet in this case.
