I dunno why I didn't get an alert/notification for the tag - maybe I should check my profile settings...

Yep, saw that on IBF. Even if it's true, for me I'm sure they won't bother to provide FTTH to my home, which is in a "ghetto" (slum) area - my favourite word for my place these days :(

For Rs. 1999 I would have preferred they kept the speed at 100 mbps for the same amount of data cap (or even lesser would do). Personally I prefer speed over data.

From 20-40GB's to 500GB. That kind of jump.. Don't really think this is from BSNL. If this is then, You assume its because of Jio FTTH.

^
These plans are likely to be true because of Jio which would come up with Such FUP limits.

I cannot comment on BSNL, But hathway has been going around and has been offering 1,000 GB and 2,000 GB FUP limits that too speeds are around 25Mbps. One of my friend is getting it soon!

how come such plans coming when jio fibre itself is nowhere to be seen yet. i expected bsnl to be the last to do such stuff to retain customers.

I bet it won't bee PAN-India but only in circles where there is competition. BSNL will still keep cheating customers in small towns and rural areas for long.

I got a mail from my BSNL DID vendor today asking if i would like to switch to one of these plans.
Considering I am on a 2800+ taxes + DID voice plan (not needed @150) for a meagre 8mbps/175GB plan, i have replied in the affirmative
Will post if BSNL does switch me to this plan

Pune - They have at the moment simply asked for an affirmation on the change of plan.
Don't know if it would entail any additional costs although don't think so (other than a modem change I guess)

Found this online on BSNL's site - > http://www.maharashtra.bsnl.co.in/mhschemes/ftth_pun_nag.pdf

Apparently its applicable for Nagpur too. Any idea how we can convince them that there is competition offering similar plans in the area? Or is it pre-specified areas?

If they are showing Rs1999 then expect your bill to be around 2500
They charge for so much shit and on top of that modem charges too

To be honest these are too good plans but actually they need to priced half the above mentioned price to make India's internet scene The Next Big Thing!

500GB at ₹999 & 1000GB at ₹2k would capture 80% of the market. No matter how high the installation charges or even the security deposit amounts are..
The consumers would be happy to pay those when the plans are True VFM.

True, but Im stuck with 2mbps for around 1400 after tax. IDGAF about India's scene. This is insane for Nagpur.

I'm paying around 3k for bsnl 8 mbps 80 GB (2.4k for bb and rest for landline + taxes). Only reason I'm sticking with bsnl is they have very rare connection drops. I need stable connection for online gaming.
I don't think they are gonna provide it in all the areas as pmc demands a lot for digging roads.

Got yourself wrong! :p

What if tell you that amount would be more than 4k? Installation charges, Security deposit and what not! :D :p
would still be happy to pay that considering i m currently paying over 3k a month for 8mbps
I have asked for the upgrade and have been told it will take between 4-8 weeks for the infrastructure to be done

My ISPs pan India, except Mumbai are doubling their internet speed even when Jio is nowhere to be seen. Even Hathway is giving good plans here in Mumbai.

Called the BSNL guy, he said they are waiting for the Cable to come. They will check feasibility and fill forms after 3-4th April. They've got lots of enquiries.
