I am looking for a basic/budget ICE for my car. Details are as follows:

Car model: Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXi (2007 model)

Current setup:
Some Sony XPLOD Head Unit, Crappy front speakers, JBL GTO 938 100W RMS rear speakers (mounted on a parcel tray at the rear)

Requirements / details : Something basic with decent sound quality. I don't need a discotheque in my car but would appreciate some good bass. I plan to use the rear speakers as I feel they are decent but I am ready to change if people suggest changing them. The front speakers and head unit have to go for sure. I also need a head unit that is USB and Ipod compatible.

Budget: 10-15K maximum (inclusive of everything like wiring, taxes, fitting, etc.)

Please advise accordingly. Thanks.

PS: I am a total noob with this :bleh:

Grab pioneer 2150/3150 and front 4 incher Gt-5 or GTO JBL speaker. JBL sounds slightly lighter side, if u want detailed sound go for Blaupunkt Thx/GTx 4 incher or best bet would be Polk db series if u have big pocket.

JBL GTO is best take, don't change it.

If u ready to modify door, then opt 6.5 incher in front from the brand listed above.

Happy listening!

you should have decent bass already. check your wiring. incorrect phase can rob you off bass.

get an alpine HU if you're upgrading, and dont have any plans to add a sub and/or an amp - Alpine HU's are by far the best ( a bit pricey, but nobody will deny)

Ok guys I took some advice from the folks on Team BHP and my current setup looks like this now:

Front: JBL S204 4" speakers

Rear : JBL GTO 938 speakers

HU: Sony Xplod (don't know the model number)

I actually blew the sum I had allocated for the HU on new alloys. So a little short of cash now. This setup is fine for me except at very high volumes. I am confused on what to add next to this. A sub woofer or an amplifier or a bass tube? I might also get hold of a used Pioneer 2290 HU in a while. I am thinking of changing the HU only for the USB support.

@greenhorn

Can you explain what do you mean by checking the current phase? I got the whole wiring also changed for the setup today as the old one was done really shoddily.

Did you buy it already?? If not do check out the JVC KW816 2-din HU, and Rockford Fosgate speakers(Ovals at rear and components in front).. my setup came upto 22k and i feel its very balanced with decent bass as well..

if the plus/minus (polarity) of one of the speakers is reversed, the bass from one will cancel out the others

I bought only the front JBL S204 speakers for now. Everything else is old. What can I add next to improve my setup (mentioned in my last post)?

Confusing :S

I will try checking this myself. You have any pics for reference by any chance?
