went to a local dealer and got these prices:

total=Rs.23,550.

got a few more quotes:
HP 2360(printer)-Rs.2,350

speakers:
altec lansing MX5021-Rs.7,700
logitech X230-Rs.2,750

what do you guys think?

For the requirements mentioned I'd also recommend just the X2 3800 + 6100 mobo. Add in a video card once low end 8x series becomes widely available. The onboard gfx will be good enough to play quite a lot of last years games which I'm pretty sure would have killed your bro's older pc and keep him occupied for at least the next 6 months.

I bought the MX5021 from Rashi, 2 months back for Rs 7100 all inclusive. It might seem a bit expensive but would easily be the most noticeable improvement over your last pc. So it should be about 6.5k at mumbai grey. Get a Zebronics cabby if you can.

ok guys,i ordered the rig today with the following,will get it tomorrow:

1GB transcend DDR2 533MHz RAM-Rs.4,800
160GB SATA Seagate HDD-Rs.2,900
DVD Writer LG-Rs.1,900
iBall cabinet with 400W SPMS-Rs.1,400
total=Rs.25,000.

plus i ordered a HP D2360 printer-Rs.2,550.
the shop showed me the Canon iP1700(Rs.4,000) and an Epson C58 with separate colour ink cartridges(Rs.3,000).the canon was too expensive and i was not sure of the Epson,so i got the HP.hope i made the right decision!
just a stupid question:do we get ink cartridges in the box with a new printer or do we have to buy it separately?

and about the speakers,he gave me 4 options within my budget:
Creative SBS370-Rs.1,350
Creative Inspire2500-Rs.2,150
Logitech X230-Rs.2,950
Altec Lansing ATP-Rs.2,650
which should i go for?need an answer urgently as i will be getting it tomorrow!
