my friend is needing a budget system of 25,000/ including windows oem
must have 512 ram, dvd reader and xp profes not for gaming
amd 64 or intel celeron? :cool2: suggest complete PC

There are many threads on the same, an A64 2800+ alongwith an Asus K8s-mx will easily fit in the budget.

AMD 64 2800+ ~ 5050

Asus K8V-MX ~ 2800

Memory 512 MB DDR400 Hynix ~ 2100

Seagate 80 GB Hard Drive ~ 2475

Sony 16x DVD ROM Drive ~ 1400

Floppy Drive ~ 280

Samsung 17" Monitor ~ 5450

Logitech Spill Resistant Keyboard ~ 220

Logitech USB Optical Mouse ~ 375

Altec Lansing AVS200 ~ 500

Case + Psu ~ 1200

Total : 21,850/-

No idea how much a copy of WinXP costs, I guess it should just fit within the remaining 3~4K budget.

thank you Crazy_Eddy I checked xp profess is 4700/
what about intel celeron?

For a Celeron setup, replace the first 2 components in the above setup with Celeron 2.53D + Gigabyte 845GE ( 3250 + 2400) = Rs. 5650

That should save you about Rs. 2200 over the cost of the previous setup.

An even wiser option would be opting for a Sempron 64 2600+ for Rs. 2900 in place of the A64 2800+. That would save you Rs. 2150

thank you eddy :cool2:

there is 3 options

1
AMD 64 2800+ ~ 5050
Asus K8V-MX ~ 2800

2
intel celeron 2.53D ~ 3300
Gigabyte 845GE ~ 2500

3
Intel P4-LGA 2.66 GHz ~ 5100
915G motherboard ~ 3000

which is best? Not for gaming but for office use.

Well the A64 is definately the best of the 3 ! The Sempron 64 2600+ is your next best bet, if you want to save cash.

The Celeron's aren't all that great, and would be the last among all options. A P4 would be decent, but this one isnt HT enabled, and HT is the *only* strong selling point of the P4.
