Hello all, posting this again- after a while tho'

The R52 ThinkPad keeps getting buggy/slow :@

Then one has to restore it to a check point, where it was working fine or restore it to factory setting..This works fine for 2-3weeks if restored to factory settings...and then it decide to play up again.If restored simply to a previous check point then it gets kinda moody and decides if it wants to function for a few days or a week at most :huh:

The symptoms are typical 1) Boot up can take upto 4-5 mins!! normally it takes about a minute and forty five.2)Mouse moves in jerky fashion. 3)scrolling up/down pages on the net ALSO jerky.4)Hard drive seems to be overactive!! basically things SLOW down :@ The moment is see the Hard Drive indicator light up for a period without reason ....NOOOO it time to restore the sys.

Running Norton which come up clean on scanning. Ran Spybot S&D which only found tracking cookies, which were fixed.

Here's screen shot of HT.Let me know if anything is out of the ordinary.I will later flatten it to factory setting and post a screen shot of the "unbugged" laptop. Please suggest any thing you feel I can do to permanantly diagnose this.Thank to all in advance.

Why Don't you just do a complete re-format and reinstall the OS? It's worth a shot. atleast this way, you can eliminate any hardware faults.
 
Restoring to factory setting is like a reformat. Anyway it reinstalls XP from a hidden/protected sector on the hard drive. No separate CD is provided with the ThinkPad at purchase. Wonder if it gotta do with BIOS...any thing to check there if so how?? Comon' guys give it a go.
 
What do you exactly mean by "Restoring Factory Settings" ? if you're doing that In the BIOS, It will have little or no effect on your XP Installation. certainly not If the OS/Partition has corrupted or the [HDD] has developed bad sectors. One Unorthodox method would be to use something like MagicJellyBean Key Finder and get your XP CD-Key, then, Get an Illegitimate copy of WindowsXP and Install it with your Legit CD-Key. that way, you're theoretically Installing Genuine OS as the Key is Valid and you paid for it (though I am not sure about the activation thing...) then you can delete all partitions, create new one (s) and Install WinXP to see If that solves the problem.
 
The ThinkPad has an option where by at boot up if one hits the Access Ibm button it gives you an option to "restore to factory settings". This restores it to original Xp status.... . In the sense that the machine and software is restored to the condition it was in when shipped out of IBM.All other data is erased completely. Windows has to be updated (huge) Msoffice reinstalled along with AV and what ever one wants on the lappy.

Your idea about using a CD to reinstall sound interesting the Key is available on the XP Pro sticker stuck on the bottom of the lappy.
 
restore model has many problem of recover old data might cause hard reading bad sectors also files not recover different xp update os version :@

so format that os and try reinstall new xp again :P
 
Okay, guys the prob is yet to to resolved. I recently posted this over at "MajorGeeks" and modded start up and processes but to no avail even added 1GB Ram to the Laptop.
