I would like a second opinion for the following components before I commit:
The intended use of this system is as a hypervisor (Proxmox) and NAS (TrueNAS, transcoding Plex) for homelab purposes.
A simple pcpricetracker.in analysis ballparks my budget to be Rs. 72k. I wanted my build to be as dicrete as possible however, by swapping out MSI MPG B760I Edge WiFi mITX motherboard, I saved around 8.5k at the same time I lost some cool hot-swappable mITX cases such as SuperMicro SuperChassis 721TQ-350B and Chenbro SR301 The quotation for SM chassis was alone a whopping Rs. 23k.
As I'm not well-versed in the Xeon lineup, I'm curious if there is an opportunity to convert the setup into an industrial-grade build using brands like SuperMicro or Asus Rack, for that sweet ECC support. My aim is to achieve a comparable price-performance ratio and idle TDP while making this transformation.
- Intel Core i5-14500
- AsRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi
- Ripjaws S5 (CL30-6000) 16x2 Kit
- Crucial P5 Plus 1T
- WD Red SMR 4 HDD
- Corsair SF 600W 80+ Gold
