At my new under construction house in Mumbai, I would like to have (1) it networked (wired) and (2) surround sound setup. Please advice on how to go about it and where to get the cables and other equipment from (in Mumbai).
I'd have a HTPC connected to a TV in the living room, a media streamer, a receiver (hopefully), and a workstation PC in another room.
Many sites suggest a surround setup similar to this:
I've designed my living room something like this:
Because of the room size and shape, there is obviously no way I can have it the ideal way as described at various sites.
My questions regarding this surround sound setup:
- Is it OK to have my rear speakers (RL and RR) right above the viewer, mounted on the ceiling or at ceiling height?
- Is it OK to have these rear speakers above the ear level but angled towards the viewer?
I'd prefer to run these cables through the ceilings and walls and can ask the architect to make provisions for these before the walls are finished.
On similar lines, I'd like to have a wired network in this house. Any suggestions on this, and places where I can buy the cables, plugs, sockets, etc?
TIA,
Bandu.
