Hey guys

Just wanted to share this with anyone who has not read it earlier. These are a series of blog posts by the Windows Engineering Team on how they approached Windows 8.

A fair warning. They are incredibly detailed. I found them superbly interesting and fun to read but someone might feel differently. :P

A few of the good ones -

Building a power-smart general-purpose Windows - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs
Updating live tiles without draining your battery - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Here is the entire list -

Reading all of the above, I can barely wait for the day when I buy a Windows 8 Ultrabook + Windows 8 phone + XBox 360. :hail:

Yes, the blog is interesting. It was there during Win7 development time too. But nowhere near as good as the blogs/info details presented during the Vista development days on blogs and the channel9.msdn.com website.

Windows Vista was a huge transformation from XP. As far as Windows 8 is concerned, I think that Windows 9 (or whatever it will be called) will be the better, improved version of the OS. But here, it seems that they have listened to feedback over the years. I simply love the new "file copy" UI. No need for another dedicated program.

Oh sure, I was sold on the whole Metro UI since WP7 on my HD7 phone. And Win8 will look awesome on touchscreens/tablets. I hope the UI smoothness is maintained - can't tell on my old HP laptop with the Release Preview where there is occasional lag in UI but its probably due to the old hardware. And for some things it falls back to the regular desktop (like downloading/installing windows updates), so yes I'm sure Windows "9" will have lots more fit and finish to come as yet.
