So here's the deal. A lot of people on the forum look to pick up sub 5K speakers for regular usage. Power is always a consideration and of course you always want the added advantage of "surround sound". Here's what you need.

1. A 3.5 mm stereo splitter. Very cheap, but get the best quality there is.

2. Two 2.1 stereo systems. Yup you heard me right!

The splitter once connected to the sound card, splits the audio into 2 channels. So now you have one system (whole system with 2 satellites and a sub) playing the left channel and the other playing the right. If you smartly place them in your room, the results are pretty awesome! With individual volume controls you can tweak the sound to be exactly as loud as you want, wherever you are in your room.

Best test, play music which clearly play on two channels. The first 2 mins of Stairway to heaven should do the trick!

Downsides

- There will be a slight vol drop (but that's why you have 2 huge subs right
<
)

- You need 2 power outputs

Although it's dead simple, if something gets messed up, don't come looking for me!!

Have tried this a while back. But the main problem is lack of coherence, harmony in sound. Another issue is drop in gain, which means you have to crank the amp to higher levels.

I agree! Coherence and time alignment are a problem. But for people on a small budget and for people who don't care too much for these things, it's pretty good. You can go a step further and set up the speakers in 2 different rooms. Helped my cousin set it up and he thanks me every time he sits on his throne
